I hadn't been to LA in many years, and I'd never visited any of these places. Carl had been to a few of them many years ago. Besides our tourist activities, we had dinner with a childhood friend and his wife, Dean and Terri Nelson, in Brea, just into Orange County. Getting there took three hours; the trip home took 45 minutes. That's LA! A friend of Carl's from high school, Tom Hadley, had asked Carl many times to speak to his Sertoma Club in Whittier; Carl talked about writing memoirs and autobiographies. On the way home we had a nice visit with Carl's daughter Allison and her two boys in Riverside. We enjoyed everything but the time on the freeways. |
