My day begins early since I arise before my family so I will present them as they waken from a peaceful sleep with a loving and pleasant image to begin their day.  In order to do this I have to set my alarm an hour and a half earlier than the ones set for the rest of the family as it takes almost that long to get ready to properly greet them.

After climbing out of bed I first put on my glasses followed by my slippers and robe. I then go to the bathroom and brush my teeth. My first chore of the day is getting dressed which takes about twenty minutes for me to put on all the layers of clothes I wear. I start of with my garter belt to hold up my seamed stockings. I wear seamed stockings since I am living in the early fifties and seamless stockings were not invented until 1956. Next on is a pair of panties followed by my stockings. So as not to run my stockings while putting them on I put on cotton gloves and then put on my stockings. The main thing I have to remember when putting on my stockings is to keep the back seam straight. A sloppy back seam could make people think my family is not proper company. After the stockings I put on my girdle. I prefer a panty girdle since that feels more secure and I do not like the airy feeling of an open bottom girdle. I put on my girdle a bit different than my panties because it is easier to get on this way and the wear and tear on my girdles is a lot less. First I turn my girdle inside out and then with the front facing towards the front I step into the leg openings and out the waist opening. Then I slide the leg openings up my legs to their proper placement and then invert the girdle until the waistband is in its proper place. Once the hook and zipper is fastened my girdle is both comfortable and secure and I adjust the leg bands so they are also properly placed. I will admit that it took a few days for my body to adjust to being compressed in a girdle but now I feel like I have something gently hugging me all the time.

With my lower half complete it is time for my bra, slip, and petticoats. I also put on my bra the way my wife showed me. I use to struggle hooking it up in the back but now I hook my bra in the front then slide it around until the cups and arm holes are in their proper place and ready for me to put my arms in and then my breasts in.

Once that is all done I adjust everything until everything is comfortable before moving on to my slip and petticoats. I wear a full slip under my petticoats as it provides a barrier between the scratchiness of my petticoats and my stockings that snag so easily. My full slip goes on over my head and as with each of the items that goes over my head I have to be careful not to disturb my curlers and risk the possibility of ruining my hairstyle. Once my full slip is in place I adjust the straps for length and then pin them to my bra straps. I have seen many women with slip straps fallen down and I know from experience how annoying that is. My full slip and all my upcoming layers of petticoats must be the proper length which is just above mid calf. Too short and I look like a street walker and too long and I look like I am wearing a cheap formal.

Once my full slip is at its proper length I start adding the layers of petticoats to give my dress the fullness it deserves. The number of petticoats I wear depend mostly on how many petticoats the dress will handle. I do not add too many as my outfit must look presentable and not make myself look sleazy. I give my petticoats a good shake to help straighten out the fabric that is caught out of place and then turn it inside out and place them one by one over my head while turning them right side out again. When each petticoat has settled into its place I then smooth it out once again. My final petticoat is a mere half-slip that again protects my dresses from snagging on my petticoats. Finally I am ready for my dress. I slide my arms in the hem, through the waist and locate the armholes. I then put my head through the same area making sure the dress does not get tangled on my hairnet.

Once the dress is in place I fasten it up. I then adjust the shoulder pads, lining, and collar before putting on my shoes. Shoes are always high heels and narrow heels that must either match or complement the rest of my outfit. Next comes my jewelry which consists of a pin for my dress, pearl necklace, pearl bracelet, and an analogue watch since digital watches were not invented then. I will wait to put on my earrings until after I get my hair done.

Once I am finally dressed it is time to sit under my hair drier for thirty minutes. Even though I slept in curlers all-night my hair isn’t dry enough for me to style yet. I would rather set my hair in the morning and not sleep in curlers but that would add another hour to my morning routine and my spouse wants me to go to bed at the same time she does. I exchange my hair net for the drier bonnet and then hook myself up to the hair drier. While sitting under the hair drier I do my make-up and nails. Before I start my make-up I put on a cape so that the excess make-up does not dirty my dress. Make-up for me consists of foundation, powder, foundation, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eye shadow, eye liner, and red lipstick. Red lipstick is required since it is the most fiftyish of the lipstick colors. With my make-up on I polish my nails the same red color as my lipstick. When the hair drier stops I set it for another ten minutes on cool to finalize the set in my hair. With my hair cool I unhook my self from the hair drier and go into the bathroom to remove the curlers and set my hair. I first do the sides and back by gently sliding out each curler with our disturbing my curls too much. I then pin each curl that is starting to droop back into place before spraying my hair with some hairspray. Once the sides and back is complete I then remove my curlers from the top of my head the same way as with the sides and then pin them into place before spraying them with hairspray. I then look at my self and touch up each errant strand of hair using more bobby pins. Once everything is in place I again spray my hair with more hairspray. By the time I have completed my hair I have used between twenty and thirty bobby pins.

I look at my self in the mirror and I am satisfied that my appearance will be pleasing to both my family and to those that will see me today. If I see a bit of slip or petticoat showing I adjust my slip and petticoats until none is visible. Petticoats should enhance the beauty of the dress and not be seen unless sitting down. With my appearance pleasing to me I spray on a bit of perfume to make my aroma pleasant to others then I put on my apron and start my daily tasks.

First thing I do next is to get my family dressed, fed, and off to their various ways. Once that is finished I can start the laundry and cleaning my home. After the laundry is started dishes come next. Because I do not want to ruin my hands with the harsh dish detergents I wear rubber gloves. I also wear rubber gloves when I clean the bathroom to again prevent my hands from touching the harsh chemicals. Rough hands are not only unsightly but are also not comfortable to those I touch. A mothers hands should be soft and warm at all times so they can be a comfort to those they caress.

After the dishes are done I then start something to thaw for dinner, make the beds, dust and vacuum the house, and clean the bathroom. Dusting and vacuuming my home in my massive petticoats is no easy task either since I have to manage them and keep them from knocking everything over. Among all my daily tasks that I do I also need to do the shopping and make deliveries for my family. Here too managing petticoats is essential as knocking things off shelves would bring embarrassment to my family as well as myself. Luckily for me after wearing full petticoats for a while I have become quite adept at managing them. Still I have to watch out for the rare occasion when I might miss something.

Sometime during the day everyone has to use the restroom. For me in my chosen outfit that is not an simple task. Since most restrooms are designed small they leave me just barely enough to do everything I need to do both before and after using the restroom. The first thing I must do is loosen my belt to make access to my girdle easier. Besides this rearranging everything once I am finished is a lot easier without my belt fastened. As I said earlier I prefer the panty girdle but wearing one makes going to the bathroom more difficult. To remove my girdle I unfasten it and then turn it inside out while dropping it to my ankles. This again minimizes the wear and tear on my girdles. Then I lower my panties before I attempt the task of sitting on the toilet while trying to keep my petticoats and dress from getting into the toilet. With my task complete it is now time to get myself back into a presentable appearance. Task one is to arrange my petticoats and dress and keep them held out of the way while I clean myself up. That accomplished I get off the toilet again making sure that my petticoats and dress do not get wet. Pulling up panties and girdle without being able to see them and keeping my petticoats from staying trapped in the waistband of the panties and girdle are again no easy task and takes some time to do. Once I am successful at that I then have to adjust my slip and then each petticoat and finally the dress so they are back into their proper positions. I then fasten my belt and again make sure my slip and petticoats are not showing. With all that complete I can now safely flush the toilet, was my hands, freshen my lipstick, and gracefully leave the restroom. I have never tried this in a stall in a public restroom but with even less space there I am sure it will be something I won’t enjoy.

When my door bell rings I remove my apron if I am wearing one and make sure I look presentable to the caller. A lot of times it is a sales man but at times it may be a friend dropping by for a chat or some lunch. I invite my guest to sit down and then offer him or her some refreshments while we talk.

Whenever I go outside something to cover my head is imperative. Whether it be a scarf for going out in the yard or a hat for shopping, visiting, or a night on the town. Along with my hat I wear a hat pin to help prevent my hat from blowing away in an unexpected gust of wind. I also wear gloves when I go out unless it is in the yard. Even then if I am going to do something that may get my hands soiled I wear gardening gloves. Wearing gloves in the warm weather does get uncomfortable but since gloves are proper attire for going out the occasional discomfort they bring me is well worth the favorable impression that I am presenting to those I meet.

Something else that I also must do every day is eat. Preparing meals for my loved ones brings me the most joy since that is when I get the quickest response of enjoyment on their part. I eat like a proper woman should and try to make sure my family does also. When the meal is finished I freshen up my lipstick and then do the dishes. Keeping my lipstick looking fresh is an important part of my life since the first thing people notice is messy lipstick. People feel that if a woman can not take the effort to keep her lipstick looking fresh then the rest of her life is a mess also.

After the evening dishes are complete there is time to relax with my family before getting ready for bed. This time is usually taken up by television or games.

When it is bed time I remove all my clothing and take a shower. After my shower I put on my nightgown, robe, and slippers before I again curl my hair and put on my hairnet. Then I lay out my clothes for tomorrow before I remove my robe, slippers, and glasses and climb into bed. Once in bed I try to relax and get comfortable while letting my scalp adjust to the slightly painful but constant pulling of my hair caused by me lying on the curlers. Eventually as I become use to the curlers straining at my hair the pain subsides and I drift off to sleep dreaming about my loving family and my wonderful life. Before I started wearing curlers I felt the worst part would be sleeping on all those hard curlers. Now that I sleep in them nightly I find the hard curlers are no problem at all.
