As Aragorn was so fond of saying "RRRROOOOOWWWRRRRRRR!!!!!!" Aragorn
was born in Bloomington, Illinois and travelled with us to Richmond, VA.
He was named after a character in "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkein.
Aragorn used some of his 9 lives, hurting his eye in a fight and being hit
by a car.  He lived out his final years in his favorite activity -- sleeping
on top of the vcr, sleeping on the fireplace mantle, sleeping on top of our
(uh...his) computer chair and sleeping outside.  Two humans and 2 cats
survive him.  He will be cremated and placed next to Isadora who preceded
him in 1989.

Tasha Yar is named after a character in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
She nearly followed her character to an early death when she decided to
go one-on-one with a dog across the street.  She recovered nicely and now
enjoys flipping her tail in front of the computer monitor.  Tasha died in
May 2001 of a throat infection.

Odo is named after a character in Star Trek:  Deep Space Nine.  Odo
followed her character by shape-shifting from a little kitten to a tubby
kitty.  Odo leads a rather "jumpy" life and has great fear of any ceiling
fan.

Dashiell came to us in early June 1999 and is named after writer Dashiell
Hammett.  His appearance should have been no surprise.  About a week
before Aragorn died a woman came by selling Krispy Kreme donuts.  Cynde
and Aragorn were sitting on the porch and Cynde told the woman about Aragorn.
Less than 2 weeks after Aragorn died the woman showed up offering us a kitten.
We, of course, accepted.  It took him less than a day to fit into the
household.  He now has the nickname of "Mr. Stiff Tail."
