point, all followers of Uthol stand in their doorways and look skyward
for one minute.

the first frost of the year. No work.

9 Gourdswatch (Yondalla) - gourds and squashes (pumpkins!) are carved
into terrifying or comic faces to ward off the evil sprits which come in
with the winter. Costumes are worn, so that the spirits will not
know who to haunt. The insides of the gourds are, of course,
cooked and eaten as pies, stews, etc.

for Farwhay Tezzerhannan, the High Priestess slain by Corilayna as a lesson

Nachtwatten (Yondalla) - The halfling adults stay awake all night to ensure
that the longest night of the year comes to an end. The children
awake in the morning to greet the return of the sun with songs. Presents
are exchanged and exotic fruits and huge meals are consumed (to prepare
for the lean winter ahead).
