BREAKING NEWS…BREAKING
NEWS…BREAKING NEWS
8/16/01 – We here at
DoubleDareSupersite.com have heard slight rumblings that the Double Dare
2000 set in Nick Studios is being “restored for future use.” What does that mean to you? It could mean a return of your favorite
game show…or it could just mean they’re giving everyone an excuse for
constructing the set. FYI – The DD2K
set was put back up in Studio 18 for visitors like yourself to Nickelodeon
Studios. It beats looking at an
empty soundstage, that’s for sure.
If we hear that Double Dare 2000 (or 2001, or whatever it
becomes) goes back into production…you’ll hear about it here first, well maybe
second…but you’ll still hear about it!
Check back for updates!
1/30/00
– THE DAY THE SLIME STOOD STILL…Our worst
fears have been realized…Double Dare 2000 is no more. Word came over the weekend that
Nickelodeon has officially pulled the plug on the messiest show on television,
ending 14 years of super sloppy fun.
The cast and crew including Jason Harris and production designer Byron
Taylor have supported this site since day one, and I thank them for the great
job the did on Double Dare 2000.
Thanks also goes out to everyone who signed the official Save
Double Dare 2000 petition spearheaded by Josh Yawn and supported by myself,
Brandon Clark, and Joey Wehmann.
We’re sorry we couldn’t save it…but remain bright-hearted – there’s
always a chance the slime will flow again…
Even
with Double Dare 2000 going off the air, DoubleDareSupersite.com isn’t
going anywhere – we’re going to stay going strong…look for updates in the next
few months including a new look, and a celebration of Double Dare’s 15th
Anniversary in October. If there’s
anything we can do for you, email us at doubledare2000@home.com.
12/7/00 – Double
Dare 2000 may very well head back into production
at Nickelodeon Studios Florida very soon. Hopefully we'll have an official word
here before the weekend is over. Keep checking back because YOUR votes may have
helped! Also, there is a brand new show brewing at Nick. We'd like to tell you
what it is, but if we did...we'd have to SLIME you. Consider that a hint.
10/13/00 – Nickelodeon Studios
has a new number for the latest production information…call (407) 363-8586 to
see what’s in production before you visit Universal Escape Orlando!
10/4/00 – Have you heard Marc
Summers’ new radio commercial for the History Channel’s game show “History
IQ”? You haven’t? Perfect! You can listen to it exclusively on DoubleDareSupersite.com
by clicking here.
9/22/00
– On October 6, 2000, the original version of Double
Dare celebrates it’s 14th anniversary of the first show to air
on Nickelodeon. The big news,
however, is that I was able to book host Marc Summers to be LIVE ON THE AIR at 93.1 WPOC
radio in Baltimore, Maryland!!!
He’ll be talking to Country Music Association award winner Laurie
DeYoung about his brand new game show on the History Channel, “History IQ” as
well as his battle against Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Marc’s book
“Everything In It’s Place” will be released on paperback October 4th.
DoubleDareSupersite.com
will include a link to the exclusive webcast! Be here at 8:30am Eastern Time, October 6th for
the ONLY website to bring you this EXCLUSIVE interview courtesy of “The Laurie
DeYoung Morning Show” on 93.1 WPOC – Baltimore’s Country Station. To listen to the station right now (to
make sure you can stream the audio) click here! Make sure you have Windows Media Player
(preferably version 7) and set your buffering amount to “default” for the
absolute best results.
9/1/00 – When Double
Dare 2000’s new episodes premiere on Sept. 4, 2000…keep an eye out for two
BRAND NEW special episodes – One harkens back to Super Sloppy Double Dare’s
“Super Slop-a-mania” with wrestlers battling it out in a messy quest for
victory. You can also expect a
special episode of DD2K that pits Tiaina vs. Noah – stars of two brand
new Nickelodeon shows. If you’re a
big fan of the “Triple Dare Challenge” look for new and exciting introductions
to this feature – it’s not just a box anymore!
8/5/00 – The radio station I work for, 93.1 WPOC – Baltimore’s Country Station, is now streaming LIVE on the INTERNET! You can listen to my show every Saturday afternoon from 1pm-6pm Eastern Time. Click here to listen NOW!
8/4/00 – GOOD NEWS IN
BALTIMORE! Looks like Comcast
Cable finally got its act together and added Nickelodeon Games and Sports to
the new Digital Cable lineup! If
you live in Baltimore, MD, you can look for GAS on Channel 133. Let me tell you, I’ve caught some of
the most classic Double Dare episodes in history! It’s great to see classic obstacles
again like Lake Double Dare, Mt. Saint Double Dare, or even the Sewer
Chute. If you remember these,
you’d get a kick out of the fact that there’s two episodes of Classic Double
Dare on every day at 2pm,
sometimes followed by a complete 2-hour mini-marathon of Double Dare in
a segment where YOU get to choose what show is played called “Pumping
GAS.” As a side note here, Double
Dare 2000 should be returning this September with brand new episodes,
including the one that our friends the Roos’ were on. You may have noticed that new shows haven’t been on lately –
it’s called Summer hiatus…in other words, it’ll be getting a fresh start right
around Labor Day weekend (right during my vacation! – jeez, my luck!) Anyway, you can still catch DD2K every SUNDAY through WEDNESDAY on Nickelodeon at
8:30pm Eastern Daylight Time.
7/2/00 – We’re just 4
days away from production for the second half of the first season of Double
Dare 2000! To celebrate,
Nickelodeon is moving DD2K into primetime!!! As mentioned on this site months ago, DD2K officially
moves to it’s new 8:30pm timeslot this week! Look for it starting Monday! As for the new episodes that are being produced…the Roos
Family will be keeping us abreast of all happenings –
they won the chance to be on the show from the DD2K Mall Tour and you
can look for a new section on this very supersite in the near future. (Hey, I know it’s been a while since an
update…but ya know, it IS the summer…and I actually plan to relax – a LOT :)
5/31/00 – The Double
Dare 2000 production schedule has been revised a bit…the show will now tape
at Nick Studios in Orlando, Florida from July 6th-21st. This is a little bit longer than the
original 8th-18th schedule that was announced a couple
weeks ago. If a full and complete
weekday schedule is released, you can bet that you’ll find it here on the Double
Dare Supersite.
Also,
coming June 10th to Silver Dollar City Theme Park in Branson, MO is
“Camp Nickelodeon” – a new themed area outfitted in true Nickelodeon-style
complete with a summer-long LIVE VERSION of Double Dare 2000! It’s exciting to see DD2K
hitting the theme park scene finally, however it’s odd that it’s not part of
the Paramount Parks’ Nickelodeon Splat City/Central areas around the country
(I’m just jealous because Silver Dollar City is so far away, and I’m a season
pass holder to a Paramount Park).
Let the slime flow!
5/30/00 – Looks like a Double
Dare 2000 home game is on the horizon…and Cardinal Games will most likely
be the manufacturer. Cardinal has
a good working relationship with MTV Networks (Nick’s parent company) and
currently makes a home version of Nickelodeon’s “Figure It Out.” You may remember from the 80’s (or not
because you weren’t born yet) that Cardinal was responsible for creating the home version of Double Dare’s
sister show, “Finders Keepers.”
FYI…Pressman was the original manufacturer of the two Double Dare
home games from the 80’s.
5/19/00 – Today marks
the end of the first Double Dare 2000 Audition Tour…sad, I know. Best part about this last stop is that
it’s a homecoming of sorts…to the place where Double Dare was born. In 1986, Double Dare began production
at the WHYY-TV Studios at 150 N. 6th Street in Downtown Philadelphia
and it makes a triumphant return to the City of Brotherly Love this weekend
only! As a side note, you may have
heard that Double Dare 2000 will also be part of the All That Music
and More Tour…well, it still will – sans Jason Harris. Jason will be busy taping the next 25
episodes of Double Dare 2000 at Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida
from July 8th through 18th. Only 10 days to tape 25 shows…yes, the world of television
production IS that amazing! (Thanks
to Josh Yawn for tape-dates!)
5/7/00 – Jason Harris
is hosting Slime Time Live for the first three days of this week live, of course, from
Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida!
You can catch STL everyday from 4-6:30pm only on
Nickelodeon…don’t forget to also watch Double Dare 2000 at 5:00pm!
5/6/00 – Jason Harris
will be back in Florida for another appearance on Slime Time Live this
week on Nickelodeon! Also, Double
Dare 2000 goes into production (for the second half of its first season)
this July with the winning families from the DD2K mall tour! At the Springfield, VA Audition Tour
stop, I had the chance to sit and talk with Jason about Double Dare 2000…a
complete report will be available soon (but this happens to be the start of the
last two weeks of my collegiate career so it will be online as soon as
possible).
4/27/00 – Amid rumors
that DD2K will not go back into production until this fall as opposed to
this summer comes new information that DD2K will most likely still tape
this summer…likely in June.
Nickelodeon also announced earlier this week that DD2K will be
part of the All That Music & More festival traveling the country
this summer. Keep checking back
for further updates. By the way,
this webmaster will be attending the May 6th tour date of the DD2K
Audition Tour and full report will follow!
4/10/00 -- It's been discovered that Jason Harris' podium for Double Dare 2000 was originally supposed to be yellow and silver...and actually was up until a few days before taping. The producers asked to see some slime on the set in the form of a bubble column, and they got what they asked for! You can still sneak a small peek at this original podium in the "DD2K Images" section...look at the first picture of Jason Harris and you can see the very top of this yellow and silver mystery.
4/10/00 -- All 40 original episodes of Double Dare 2000 have aired and are now in reruns (not counting the SNICK preview episode). Another 25 episodes of Double Dare 2000 are scheduled to go into production this summer to round out the total number of shows produced to 65. Be on the look out for the complete summer production schedule as soon as it's released.
3/7/00 -- If you've got an eagle eye, you'll probably see a lot of variation between the colors on the red and blue team scoring units. The units were built specially for Double Dare 2000 by the same firm that built the original Double Dare score boards. The neon display tubes didn't appear as well on television as originally thought, so they were both completely rebuilt. This explains why some episodes appear to have pink numbers for the red team and a very dark blue for the blue team. The later-produced episodes have the rebuilt scoring units and are therefore MUCH easier to see on-camera.
3/7/00 -- You may also have noticed a "different" Triple Dare Challenge box used for some episodes. The mailbox Triple Dare boxes were originally designed to emerge from the left or right side of the stage near the team podiums, depending upon which team was up for the Challenge. That proved too awkward to pull off, so they put the mailboxes on casters and wheeled them in. Of course, they quickly realized that it looked a little low-budget (and we can't have any of that!), thus the creation of the silver Triple Dare Challenge box that you now know and love.
