What to Bring
1.) Yourself
and your party: Have a
light breakfast, and take a Dramamine at least ½ hour before you board
Diadem. Also, a big night, the night before, can cause distress at sea.
2.) Clothing:
It will be summer, so wear and bring summer things. A rule of thumb on
the water: bring some clothing for a cooler season; a wool sweater or light
jacket may feel good at times. Wear sneakers.
A hat and sun glasses are essential. Pack a bathing suit.
If
the sail is a several day excursion, you may have some meals ashore. Some casual
dress is appropriate. There are laundry facilities at each port, so there can
be some turn-a-round of clothing.
3.) Bedding
and Towels: provided
4.) Food
and Drink: There will ice, drinking water and a variety of
tonic aboard, as well as drinking glasses, dishes, silverware, and a variety of
condiments. There is an ice box. The stove may be used for warming dishes.
Unless otherwise arranged, pack lunch for the first day.
A
good practice when on a ship is to never let yourself get hungry, and never
be full. The fresh air and the sea will give you hunger pangs. Some food,
such as small sandwiches, should be devoted to satisfying these.
Diadem
will be provisioned, at cost, for specialty items or additional meals aboard as
per previous arrangements. If you would like beer, wine or cocktails, you are
welcome to bring your own.
5.) Luggage
and Containers: There shouldn’t be much. Soft duffels which stow
are the best. Coolers aren’t necessary, but one is O.K. There is a
reasonably spacious ice box on board.
6.) Personal
items: Do
not forget medications, and preferred lotions. The sun can be intense at sea.
Diadem has first aid kits and some over counter medications aboard.
7.) Other: Field glasses and a
camera are nice to have.
We
will communicate by phone at least once before the sail, but do feel free to
phone me as many times as you wish with any questions you may have,
