Benjamin was one of four Dorr siblings(?) at Pleasant River at an early date (by 1815). One or more were perhaps children of Parker and Eleanor (---) Dorr of Rochester NH. A relationship to Martha Dorr (1787-1880+) is suggested by the names of Benjamin's 1st and 2nd child, John Frederick and Martha Phillips. Martha Dorr married abt 1810 John Frederick Phillips.
Benjamin moved from Cherryfield to Columbia ME by 1820. The Machias Union newspaper of 29 Aug 1876 gives "Mr Benjamin Dorr, of Columbia, is 83 years old. The past season he worked by the day in the hay field; he is smart for an octogenarian and can walk well with many a man 30 years his junior".
