1    JONATHAN S ⁴ DORR [# 219] s/o EBENEZER ³ DORR( EBENEZER ², EDWARD ¹) and NAOMI DORR(MN) was born at ? abt 1742; died at ? abt 1835; married at Dover NH 15 Nov 1773 Eunice ⁵ Downs, d/o Ebenezer Downs and Jane Walton;

EPRF says that Jonathan was born 10 Feb 1749 at Roxbury MA and provides his descent from Edward Dorr of Roxbury MA.

Jonathan perhaps lived at Wales ME before coming to Steuben by Sept 1775. He served in the Revolutionary War at Gouldsboro 4 Sep 1775 and again 21 Oct 1780.

He was at Columbia by 1784 where he signed a petition. He and his wife were supported by the town of Columbia after 1829. See "The Black papers", TMG 21:1:13-17, which says that he settled at Columbia in 1781, was age 56 in 1798 when he had 5 in his family.

In 1799 Bidfield bought Daniel Small's original settler's lot at Cherryfield ME [WCD 4:268].

See "The Black papers", TMG 21:1:13-17, which says he settled in Columbia 1792, age 25 in 1798, 4 in family, in right of D Small 1781.

The 1900 census of Jonathan's son, Moses, says that Jonathan was born in MA. EPRF says that he was born at Columbia ME 18 April 1791 [family Bible].

In 1811 he was paid $1/week to keep a daughter of Lorin Anson Smith.

Jonathan was living with his daughter Esther at Columbia Falls in 1870.

See the Machias Union of 24 May 1881: "Jonathan Dorr at Columbia is now 94 yrs old. He reads newspapers without glasses, hearing and health generally is very good. He has had the 5th generation born unto him; his children and descendants numbering 149 persons."

Jonathan's children are from a family Bible [EPRF pg 152].

Joseph moved from Columbia to Jonesport ME bet 1850-1860.

Joseph's birth date is from a family Bible. His birth date based on his age at death (from death record) is 24 Aug 1813. Joseph's gs gives a death date of 1895.

Moses was living with his son Luther in Columbia Falls ME in 1900. The 1900 census says his father was born in MA as does Moses's death record.
