1    OWEN ¹ MCKENZIE [# 8669] s/o? was born at ? bef 1750; died at Addison ME abt 1835; married at ? 29 Oct 1767 Elizabeth Dyer d/o ? and ?;

Owen was born in Scotland and came to ME with his brothers, John and Hugh. Owen was at Gorham ME by 1767 where he married Elizabeth Dyer and his brother, Hugh, married Sarah Dyer (sister to Elizabeth) in a double ceremony. Owen was at Pleasant River by 1770 where he signed a petition. He is included in a list of settlers at Pleasant River in 1778 and is in the census records through 1810. [EPRF]

Census records indicate that Owen had more than the children listed.

John lived at Columbia ME 1800 and 1810 and Jonesboro ME 1820 and 1830. He died at Boston MA while traveling.

3    DANIEL ² MCKENZIE [# 9425] s/o OWEN ¹ MCKENZIE and ELIZABETH DYER was born at ? 8 Apr 1772; died at Columbia ME 17 Aug 1870; married at ? [marriage int filed at Columbia ME 22 Dec 1797] Hannah ⁵ Drisko [ColMR], d/o Joseph Drisko and Rebecca Ingersoll;

See "The Black papers", Maine Genealogist, which says that Daniel settled at Columbia ME in 1796, was age 23 in 1798 and that he had 3 in his family.

Columbia marriage records say that Daniel married during the year previous to 30 Apr 1798.

Daniel was a farmer at Columbia ME 1796-1870.

Owen lived at Columbia ME until after 1840 and was in Steuben ME 1850-1860.

5    ELLIS B ³ MCKENZIE [# 13003] s/o JOHN ² MCKENZIE and SUSANNA ⁶ KNOWLES was born at ? Feb 1811; died at Boston MA 23 May 1896; married at ? 5 Jan 1837 Margaret ⁷ Emerson, d/o Eusebius Emerson and Margaret "Peggy" Linnen; Ellis is buried at Indian River Cemetery, Jonesport ME

Ellis was a master boat builder at Jonesport in 1860. He went to Palestine in 1866, returned to Jonesport and settled at Harrington by 1880.

6    ABRAHAM KNOWLES ³ MCKENZIE [# 10964] s/o JOHN ² MCKENZIE and SUSANNA ⁶ KNOWLES was born at Addison ME Apr 1815; died at Addison ME 8 Jul 1900 [gs]; married (1) at ? Abraham had no children but he adopted Edward Leighton McKenzie (reportedly s/o Enoch P Richardson and --- Leighton).

Edward was a trader, variety store merchant and minister at Addison ME 1840-1900.

7    JOEL ³ MCKENZIE [# 19208] s/o DANIEL ² MCKENZIE and HANNAH ⁵ DRISKO was born at Columbia ME abt 1800; died at Columbia ME 1 May 1852; married at Machias ME 25 Mar 1824 [marriage int filed at Machias ME 12 Feb 1824] Delina ⁶ Larrabee, d/o Abner Larrabee and Jane Foster Chase;

Joel hanged himself. His widow moved to St Anthony MN and was living there in 1870 and 1880 with her daughter, Leonice [1870 census for St Anthony MN, roll 6, pg 720; 1880 census for Minneapolis MN, roll 621, pg 5, enum dist #231].

Daniel was a house carpenter and farmer at Columbia ME 1840-1880.

Joseph lived at Cherryfield ME in 1840 and was a millman at Columbia ME 1850-1860.

Joseph served in the 24th ME Regt in the Civil War.

Owen died of disease at Camp Stetson VA in Civil War, Co H 18th ME Inf.

Owen's last 5 children were listed in their mother's 17 Nov 1862 pension application.

George died at Wilmington MA (recorded Harrington). EPRF says that he died at Wilmington WA.

He was a widowed boat builder at Harrington ME in 1880.
