A very pregnant Hannah Ballinger answers an ad in the paper for a bride to one of the men at the US Lifesaving station on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the year 1899. Exhausted from her long, difficult trip, she removes her cloak and the brothers see her pregnancy.
Penn Warfield had sent away for a bride for his younger brother when Adam fell in love with a girl he didn't approve of. His word is law to the three younger brothers, but Adam adamantly refuses to marry another. At first, Penn intends to send Hannah back when he learns she is pregnant, but before a ship arrives, she has settled in comfortably and they all like her. Penn continues to insist that Adam and Hannah will wed when the preacher arrives - despite Adam’s protestations.
What a sweet, tender love story. It has it’s dramatic moments, as well as it's humor. Makes you feel kind of good just for reading it.
