It is the belief of the Delmarva Peninsula Golf Association, "that golf activities can be promoted through organized effort on the Delmarva Peninsula, and that these activities will foster a spirit of   fellowship and goodwill, as well as mutual understanding among the citizens of the communities of the Delmarva Peninsula."

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

AMATEUR TOURNAMENT REQUIREMENTS

 

1. This tournament is to determine the best amateur golfer of the D.P.G.A.

2. Only amateur golfers of D.P.G.A. member clubs, which have paid dues by the time of the event, may enter.

3. Tournament publicity should be sent to member clubs at least four weeks in advance of the event. Publicity should include format, fee, prizes, starting times, date and rain date, and any other pertinent information.

4. U.S.G.A. Rules should be followed except where amended by local rules or conditions. These local rule exceptions and the names of persons forming the Rules Committee should be conspicuously posted prior to tee-off.

5. All ties for the circulating trophy and first and second places, both gross and net, must be played off by "sudden death" from the first tee. Other ties will split merchandise awards of the combined places.

6. The host club will provide starters, scorers and a Rules Committee.  Amount of merchandise awards and number of places are at the discretion of the host club.

7. The D.P.G.A. contribution to the tournament is to be used for prizes only and a receipt must be provided to the Administrative Assistant. The player entry fee may be added to the prizes. Prizes are subject to verification upon request by the Administrative Assistant.

8. A resume of the tournament shall be filed with the Administrative  Assistant within ten days following the conclusion of the event.

9. Competition is to be 36 holes medal play, in two flights. The championship gross flight will be for players with a handicap of six (6) or less, and the net flight will be for players with a handicap of  seven (7) or more. Entrants with a handicap of seven (7) or more may play in the championship (gross) flight if they request so on their registration form.

10. The Championship (Gross) Flight winner will be declared D.P.G.A. Amateur Champion and will be awarded a circulating trophy to be displayed in his club for one year. He will also be included in the following tournament awards:

 

CHAMPIONSHIP (GROSS) FLIGHT

            lst Place - Trophy & Merchandise*

            2nd Place - Trophy & Merchandise  

            3rd Place - Merchandise

            4th Place - Merchandise

 

NET FLIGHT

            1st Place - Trophy & Merchandise  

            2nd Place - Trophy & Merchandise

            3rd Place - Merchandise 

            4th - 8th Place - Merchandise

 

*Also receives circulating trophy.  

 

Amount of merchandise awards and number of places are at the discretion of the host club.

Players may be paired after first day for better ball awards on second day. This is optional.
