Golf Association It is the belief of the Delmarva Peninsula Golf Association, "that golf activities can be promoted through organized effort on the Delmarva Peninsula, and that these activities will foster a spirit of fellowship and goodwill, as well as mutual understanding among the citizens of the communities of the Delmarva Peninsula."

BY LAWSOF THE DELMARVA PENINSULAGOLF ASSOCIATION ARTICLE I - DUTIES OF OFFICERS Section 1. - The President shall have the power to call meetings and preside over them. Section 2. - The First Vice-President shall preside and act in the absence of the President. In his absence, the Second Vice-President shall preside. Section 3. - The Secretary-Treasurer shall have the responsibility for keeping a record of the proceedings of all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Section 4. - The Administrative Assistant shall be responsible for maintaining the permanent records of the Association, preparing necessary correspondence, and keeping official records of all events of the Association. Together with the Secretary-Treasurer, he shall be responsible for all finances of the Association, including opening and maintaining a checking account for the Association funds. He shall be required to render a financial report at the Annual Meeting and at such other times as the Executive Committee may request. He shall be authorized to issue drafts. The primary function of the Administrative Assistant
is to provide continuity of D.P.G.A. operations from year to year and to that
end, his duties will include: - attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Co - be an expert on the Bylaws and be able to counsel the Executive Committee in interpretation and administration; - ensure that the Bylaws are kept current and are comprehensive; - ensure that the Annual Meeting is called on time; - meet with clubs hosting D.P.G.A.-sponsored events at least thirty (30) days prior to the event to ensure the event will be conducted according to the guidelines; - attend or arrange to have a D.P.G.A. officer attend the D.P.G.A.-sponsored events; - maintain a financial account of all D.P.G.A.-sponsored events; - provide liaison between D.P.G.A. members, Clubs and Executive Committee; and, - perform such other functions as the Executive Committee may direct. ARTICLE II - DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Section 1. - The Executive Committee shall meet at the call of the President and shall be empowered to act for the Board of Directors between regular meetings. Section 2. - The Executive Committee shall assure efficient operation of the business and golfing activities of the Association. ARTICLE III - ELECTIONS Section 1. - The Presidency of the Association shall be rotated among the member clubs in the following order of succession: Seaford Golf & Country Club Green Hill Yacht & Country Club Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club Caroline Country Club Winter Quarters Golf Club Elks Golf Club Great Hope Golf Course The Easton Club Sussex Pines Country Club Hog Neck Golf Course Shawnee Country Club Ocean City Golf & Country Club Chester River Yacht & Country Club Ocean Resorts Golf Club Nassawango Country Club Mapledale Country Club Clearview at Horns Point Golf Club (formerly Cambridge Golf & Country Club) Cove Creek Golf Club Harbourtowne Country Club Talbot Country Club Captain's Cove Golf & Yacht Club Wild Quail Country Club Nutters Crossing Golf Club Uplands Golf Club Ocean Pines Golf Club Section 2. - New clubs admitted to membership shall take their place in the order of rotation following the club of the outgoing President. In the event more than one club is admitted at the same time, position is determined by lot. Section 3. - Election of officers shall take place at the Annual Meeting. Nominations will be made from the floor. Section 4. - Election shall be by ballot and a majority shall be necessary for election Section 5. -The President and Secretary-Treasurer shall be from the same club. The First Vice-President shall be from the club in the rotation responsible for providing the next President, and the Second Vice-President shall be from the club in the rotation responsible for providing the next First Vice-President. The First Vice-President is expected to succeed the President, and the Second Vice-President is expected to succeed the First Vice-President. Section 6. -A quorum shall constitute a simple majority of the membership and majority vote need be only a majority of those members voting. ARTICLE IV-FINANCES Section 1. -The annual dues of each member club shall be established at the Annual Meeting. Section 2. -Dues are payable upon notice from the Administrative Assistant. This will take place during January of the current calendar year. Section 3. -Financial assistance to Amateur, Senior, Junior and Parent-Child events, and any other sponsored activities, shall be determined by the directors at the Annual Meeting. ARTICLE V-ACTIVITIES Section 1. -Amateur Championship: An Amateur Championship shall be sponsored annually by the Association. The site of the event each year shall be the club of the current President. Section 2. -Senior Championship: The Senior Championship shall be sponsored annually. This event shall be open to club members who have reached the age of fifty (50) Section 3. -Junior Championship: The Junior Championship shall be sponsored annually. This event shall be open to boys and girls who have not reached their 18th birthday by the date of the tournament. Section 4. - Adult-Junior Event: This event shall be sponsored annually. Section 5. -Only amateur golfers of D.P.G.A. member clubs, which have paid dues by the time of the D.P.G.A. sponsored event, may enter. ARTICLE VI - SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES Each member club is urged to sponsor events to which other member clubs are invited. These events and respective dates shall be approved by the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting after selection of dates for the D.P.G.A. sponsored events. Affiliation by individual clubs with State and National Associations shall be encouraged. Member clubs shall adhere to the U.S.G.A. system of handicapping and course rating. ARTICLE VII - AMENDMENTS Proposed amendments to the Bylaws may be considered at the Annual Meeting or any special meeting provided, in the latter case written notice is given member clubs of the nature of the proposed amendment at least ten (10) days prior thereto. Amendments must be approved by a majority of the member clubs of the Association.
