Golf Association It is the belief of the Delmarva Peninsula Golf Association, "that golf activities can be promoted through organized effort on the Delmarva Peninsula, and that these activities will foster a spirit of fellowship and goodwill, as well as mutual understanding among the citizens of the communities of the Delmarva Peninsula."

CONSTITUTION
OF THE DELMARVA PENINSULA GOLF ASSOCIATION PREAMBLEIn the belief that golf activities can be promoted through organized effort on the Delmarva Peninsula, and that these activities will foster a spirit of fellowship and good will, as well as mutual understanding among the citizens of the communities of the Delmarva Peninsula, there is established this non-profit organization.
ARTICLE I-NAMEThis organization shall be known as the Delmarva Peninsula Golf Association.
ARTICLE II-OBJECTSSection 1. - To promote and regulate golfing activities on the Delmarva Peninsula for the benefit and enjoyment of members of the participating clubs. Section 2. - To provide a Club Service and Greens Section designed to furnish a collective means of assisting the member clubs on matters of club management and maintenance.
ARTICLE IV- MEMBERSHIPSection 1. - Any golf club located on the Delmarva Peninsula, south of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, is eligible for membership. Section 2. - A letter of application for membership shall be submitted to the President of the Association. Section 3. - Upon receipt of the letter of application for membership, the President shall appoint and assign a committee to investigate the applicant club. The Committee will then make a report regarding the applicant club to the Board of Directors at a special or annual meeting as deemed proper by the President. Section 4. - An affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the member clubs present and voting at the meeting shall be required for admission.
ARTICLE IV - ORGANIZATION OF THE ASSOCIATIONSection 1. - The Association shall be divided into a Northern and a Southern Division. Section 2. - The Association shall be governed by a Board of Directors composed of one member from each club. This member shall be appointed officially by the governing body of the member club. Section 3. - The Board of Directors shall elect at the Annual Meeting a President, a First Vice-President, a Second Vice-President and a Secretary-Treasurer. Section 4. - The Board of Directors shall meet annually on the second Monday of November, and at such other times as the President may direct or at the written request of three member clubs. Notice of all meetings must be given, in writing, to all member clubs at least fifteen (15) days in advance of said meeting.
ARTICLE V - COMMITTEESSection 1. - The Executive Committee shall be composed of the President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, Administrative Assistant, and two additional members, one from a Northern Division Club and one from a Southern Division Club, appointed by the President. Section 2. - The President shall have the power to appoint any such committees as may be necessary to efficiently manage the affairs of the Association. Such appointments are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors or the Executive Committee. Section 3. - The President, with the advice and consent of the Executive Committee, shall each year appoint an Administrative Assistant who shall serve as the official D.P.G.A. Liaison Officer and shall perform such functions and receive such compensation as may from time to time be outlined in the Bylaws of this Organization. ARTICLE VI - AMENDMENTSProposed amendments to the Constitution may be considered at the annual meeting or any special meeting, provided in the latter case, official written notice is given member clubs of the nature of the proposed amendment at least ten (10) days prior to said meeting. Amendments must be approved by a majority of the member clubs of the Association. ARTICLE VII - BYLAWSBylaws, governing the activities of the Association, shall be established, submitted to the Board of Directors and approved by a majority of the member clubs. ARTICLE VIII - RATIFICATIONThis Constitution shall become effective upon its ratification by the representatives of a majority of the member clubs of the Association. Revised January, 1991 |
