The D.P.G.A., Inc. may decide to award scholarships to college students. To qualify, the student must:

a. Be accepted to, or currently be a student in good standing in an academically accredited college or university (a student may be selected more than once); and

b. Not be a child of a member of the D.P.G.A. Executive Committee or the Administrative Assistant.

Preferential consideration will be given to candidates who:

a. Are in financial need;

b. Are active golfers; and

c. Are majoring in, or taking courses in, a field related to golf; i.e., agronomy, agriculture, etc.

The Executive Committee, including the Northern and Southern Junior Chairmen, will hold an annual meeting at which time each D.P.G.A. Representative, or his designee, may verbally submit his candidate. Candidates will then be requested to submit to an interview by the Executive Committee.

Each candidate must submit a portfolio, which should include:

a. A completed application;

b. A resume (with current photo);

c. A transcript of grades;

d. One letter of recommendation. Must be from a D.P.G.A. golf professional, representative or junior golf committee chairman; and

e. Proof of admission to an accredited college.

f.  A computer print out or a photocopy of your handicap card.

g. Must be available for an in person interview in June with the Scholarship Committee.

This portfolio must be postmarked by June 1st to be considered. No exceptions.

At least five members of the Executive Committee must be present at the meeting to establish a quorum.

Only one candidate from each member club will be selected. A member club may have more than one person getting a scholarship, but only one new candidate each year.

To retain an existing scholarship the student must maintain a 2.0 GPA. Semester grades must be submitted to the scholarship chairman by January 15th. No exceptions!

The Executive Committee will vote on the candidates and announce the recipient(s) within a reasonable time period. If two or more members of the Executive Committee are members of the same member club, they will be allowed a total of only one vote.

The recipient(s) of the scholarship awards will have credited to his/her college 50% of the award for the first term, and, after producing evidence of good standing, will have credited to his/her college the remaining 50% for the second term.

The Executive Committee may, at their discretion based on funds available, choose to increase or decrease the number of scholarships, or to increase or decrease the value of each scholarship for a particular year.
