Summer Reading Wrap-up

After a summer of buccaneer bunnies and pirate treasure, the kids of Durham said farewell to the summer reading program on August 17th. During a performance by Tim Van Egmond, master storyteller, they heard about the ghost of Jean Lafitte, went on a treasure hunt and sang lots of pirate songs. We had 173 children ages 2 - 15 register for the summer reading program, and they read for over 1,759 hours. Nearly 1,000 books were read. Everyone who turned in a timesheet was awarded a certificate and a prize. Congratulations to all for doing such a great job.

Durham Public Library is located in the Mill Road Plaza and is open 10-8 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10-5 Thursday and Friday, and 10-1 on Saturday.
