Friends of the Library Receive Award

The Friends of the Durham Public Library were presented the "Special Library Service Contribution Award" from the New Hampshire Library Trustees Association (NHLTA) in Town Council chambers on Monday June 18th. Lillian Edelmann, Library Ambassador for the NHLTA presented the award to the Friends in recognition of their distinguished and devoted service to the library throughout its 10 year history. Chair Sally Hochgraf and Betty Zeiss accepted the award on behalf of the Friends. Former Board of Trustees Chair Luci Gardner submitted the application to the NHLTA.

The library staff and Trustees would like to congratulate the Friends on receiving the Special Library Service Award - it is recognition that is well-deserved. We who work in the library know just how important their efforts are to our operation and we thank them sincerely for their support.

Durham Public Library Goes Wireless!

The Library has just taken another technological step forward: We now provide wireless access to the internet. Bring your laptop, make yourself comfortable, and surf the 'net. You can access the internet from anywhere within the building during our hours of operation. Special thanks to Luke Vincent for setting us up with wireless capability. Next up - the new website with our online catalog. Stay tuned.

Join the Shelf Patrol @ Durham Public Library

Our shelves need your help! The Library has nearly 30,000 books, audio books, videos, DVDs, and periodicals and they all have their proper place on the shelves. Unfortunately, they don't always end up where they belong, and when a book is on the wrong shelf, it's as good as lost.

How can you help? Sign up to patrol a shelf, or a section of shelves. You will make sure that the items in your section are in order, the shelves are organized and neat, and items that don't belong find their way back.

It takes only minutes to inspect your shelves.

Interested? Please register at the Circulation Desk.

Tales for Tails
