After ten years of criticizing the quality of the literature, I decided to do something about it...
dr2 Consulting was founded in 2005 to help bridge the gap between researchers who produce clinical trial evidence and technology assessment organizations who consume that evidence.
Technology assessment is the foundation of evidence-based medicine: it is used not only for development of clinical practice guidelines, but also for development of reimbursement policies and increasingly in the regulatory arena. So improving the quality of the evidence for imaging and diagnostic procedures will have a beneficial effect on patient care as well as on the practice of radiology and related sciences.
By helping investigators design better research and present their results more clearly, dr2 will speed up publication of those results and increase the quality scores they are assigned in systematic reviews.
By helping methodologists understand the difference between assessment of diagnostic tests and assessment of treatments, and advancing methods for assessment of diagnostic tests, dr2 will promote evidence-based approaches to selecting and using those tests, for better quality and more efficient patient care.
