XvT Ship Patch Installation LU: March 09, 2003
Get Ship Patch v3.50 4th Beta
SP3-50_B4.ZIP 4.9MB Released: Oct.12 '99 PRIMARY DOWNLOAD
~ This version is beta, only because I want to add more to it, it will likely be a while if I get another version up though. Read the Ship Patch information page while downloading.
This is NOT an official Lucasarts patch, the typical use at your own risk applies. I do not guarantee it will work on your system, however there really should be no problems using this patch as long as u follow the instructions closely. You must have the proper version(s) of XvT to be able to use the new craft/slots (XvT 1.1.4 or XvT 1.1.4 with BoP 2.0).
Install Ship Patch

  1. Download SP3-50_B4.ZIP while you read the rest of the instructions and information page.

  2. Make sure you have the proper version of the game (XvT/BoP). You should have XvT v1.1, and optionaly BoP v2.0. The BoP CD installs the latest XvT patch so if you have BoP then u are set to go. If you only have XvT, then make sure that u have the latest patch, LEC released two versions of the 1.1 patch, the Ship Patch will only work on 1.1-4 which always appears as 1.1 in the game.
If you are in need of the patch download XvT_3DFX.EXE from www.lucasarts.com.
The 1.1-4 patch file name says 3DFX, but 3DFX is NOT required to use the 1.1-4 patch, however the 3D hardware settings are defaulted to ON, so in the CONFIG button within the game should be a new ON/OFF switch to the 3D hardware. Just turn it OFF if you do not have 3D hardware.

  3. Using winzip, extract the SP3-50B4.ZIP file into an empty new folder in the XvT folder or the XvT folder directly (the install will move it for you).
None of the folders or files are the same name as the default game folders or files.
  4. Run or double click the InstallSP.bat file in the ..\XvT\ShipPatch folder. If the patch was extracted properly a menu of choices will appear. The missions will also need to be set up before the missions will work.
Any program that reads, runs, or edits the XvT/BoP executable should not be running when the ship patch is being installed, or that program will be confused as to what version is installed.
.
Installing the Ship Patch missions
~ If you have never installed any user missions since the game was installed, just run the InstallSP.bat file's Easy Mission Install option.

~ If you have missions already installed from a different source then you will not want to run the easy install, because it just copies a premade file over top of the games, and that will disable the missions installed. So you will need to add a few lines of text to the mission config files. The InstallSP.bat files Manual Mission Installation option will walk you through setting up the require files for the ship patch missions.

~ If you are already familiar with editing the mission files, below are the lines that need to be added to the files.

Windows XP
If you are having problems getting the .bat file to work in Windows XP, you can aquire Choice.com from a Windows95 or 98 CD, and temporarily copy it to your windows/Command folder in XP. But remove this file and reboot once you are finished, cuz running it in XP can cause XP to hang.. this is why XP did not come with its own version. Because its a .com file it can contain nasty things, so get this file only from a place or computer you trust to be relatively virus free.
