Oregon's newest covered bridge has not been named yet, but I have heard that it may be named for it's builder. So, until I hear different, it will be referred to on this page as the Overfield Bridge. It is newly constructed, completed in July of 2000, and designed for use as a pedestrian span traversing Silver Creek in Silverton. Strictly speaking, it falls outside of what is traditionally considered in the family of covered bridges as it is a steel girder structure, but with it's elegant styling and placid setting, this bridge is well worth a visit. It is located just upstream from the Main Street vehicular bridge in downtown Silverton between Water and Fiske Streets. It joins restaurants and shops on the north side of Silver Creek with Silverton Town Square Park on the south bank.
