I really enjoyed visiting Stirling.  Not only is Stirling Castle a great spot to visit, but nearby we were also able to visit the Wallace Monument and the field where the Battle of Bannockburn was fought.

Castle Stirling is located on a high rocky crag that is almost as impressive as Edinburgh Castle.  While the present version of the castle is only about 500 years, there has been a stronghold on this site for almost 1000 years!

This is one of the older parts of the castle.
At this point of time, there were actually 3 rainbows in the sky at one time.   I couldn't capture all three at once due to their spacing, but I thought this one was interesting.  This is one of the cannons located inside the front gate of Stirling Castle.

Behold! The new King and Queen of Scotland!
This statue was mounted on the outside of one of the older buildings of Stirling Castle and is just begging for a funny caption. I'm thinking something in terms of a Michael Jackson jab.

This is the view of Stirling Castle from the Wallace Monument to the east.
The Wallace Monument.

Stephen felt it was appropriate to wear his kilt to the Wallace Monument.  Here he is next to the Wallace Sword itself!  I enjoyed our visit because I got to climb the numerous and steep steps right behind my kilted man. :-)
Mr. GQ himself

This is me.
I swear I saw a wee brownie or pixie enter this little home!
