If you have previously had a good experience with a particular chiropractic technique, you may be looking for a doctor who does something similar. The list below will take you to pages describing the techniques I have incorporated into my practice.
Every chiropractor adopts ways to work selected from the wide range that have been developed over chiropractic's century of development. Over time in practice, I have combined and modified the techniques I have learned in chiropractic school and postgraduate work. I have also devised new techniques for new situations, based on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and technique. Each technique has particular advantages for particular conditions or in particular situations, so I use the best from each.
My orientation is largely scientific, yet with a realistic recognition of how much we don't know about the body. The physical is not all there is. I took my clinical doctorate at Life Chiropractic College- West. The school was small, and we had personal attention from many wonderful professors and visiting clinicians. Unlike some of the older schools (e.g. Palmer) mine did not teach a "package" of techniques we were required to learn and adopt. Instead we were trained in several of the most accepted approaches to chiropractic. I found that each approach contained some real pearls, techniques that work especially well on particular problems or in particular situations. This was true also in the many postgraduate seminars I attended. So I took all the best bits and integrated them into the way I work today.
Before I took my chiropractic training, I worked as a trainer of instructors in Touch for Health, a system of self-care that combines muscle testing with acupressure and reflex correction points. I gained experience with a wonderful diagnostic and therapeutic method called Applied Kinesiology, which I use extensively in my practice.
The techniques below are my materials- the equivalent of the visual artist's paints, brushes, and art techniques. Just as many people paint but few are artists, many chiropractors use the same techniques with varying results. When you decide to begin your care, you'll be able to evaluate my artistic skills for yourself.
