I am currently working on updates to this website. Check here to see what is new.
I have scanned an old autograph book of Juliet Robbins Falkenburg (my grandmother). The book contains entries from 1891 to 1983, and contains memories of Juliet's friends from school, her family, and others who were important to her.
I have completed the story of Captains Charles A. and Nelson H. Falkinburg These sons of Samuel Falkinburg II sailed to San Francisco bringing the Connecticuit MIning and Trading Company to San Francisco during the gold rush. This section is not complete, so visit again to see the updates.
I received some important information about the generation linking Samuel Falkinburg 2 and Solomon Falkenburg. Solomon Falkenburg's father was George Harrison Falkinburg, son of Samuel Falkinburg. Previously, I named Hezekiah Falkinburg as Solomon's father. This change has solved the problems with the record I had reported earlier.
I have added research pages which contain my notes and references for various sections of the web site. The research pages are accessed from the Resources link on the main menu.
New material has been added for Samuel Falkinburg1. This includes a photograph (thanks to Mary, tboner11 on Ancestry.com) of his grave in Oak Hill Cemetery in Varick, Seneca County, New York
New material has been added for John Falkinburg, son of Henry Falkinburg 2. This can be accessed from Falkenburg History by selecting John Falkinburg from the "generations sub menu". I have completed the reformatting of notes and references in most of the website (up to Hezekiah). Finally, I have validated most of the pages on this site for compliance with the web standards established by WC3 (World Wide Web Consortium). While this is a technicality, it does assure that this site will function on a broad spectrum of compliant web browsers.
The organization of the website has been updated. Falkenburg History now documents all the generations in the paternal line from Henry Jacobs Falkinburg to the present. Although not all generations are currently on-line, the structure is in place for this. An extended menu system allows navigation to a particular generation of Falkenburgs. The use of the Back/Next navigation buttons will take the user in a sequential journey through the generations. The link "Other Families" in the main menu permits exploring the maternal lines that are a part of our genealogy. Again, an extended menu allows selection of a particular family.
I will likely be updating the way in which I handle the notes and references. Notes are detailed on each page. References contained in square brackets can be accessed by following the link References at the bottom of each page. The References are opened in a named window, so that you may keep that open for easy reference as you navigate the site.
The original home page has been replaced and the Falkenburg History section has been reformatted and expanded to include a detailed documentation of the progenitor of our family in America: Henry Jacobs Falkinburg. In designing this section, I have tried to collect as many original references as possible, searching to find the sources that Leah Blackman (who is often quoted) used in her seminal publication. It is my intention to continue this documentation of the early roots of the family and find a way to integrate this story with the documentation of more recent generations found in the Genealogy link.
