Malsch

The tower of the St. Cyriak Catholic Church dominates the landscape of Malsch, a village on the edge of the Blackforest region of southwestern Germany. It is located near Karlsruhe in the State of Baden-Wurrtemberg. Its Jewish community dates back to the year 1700 when several families were settled there. In 1875 the Jewish population reached 320 souls. This number diminished with emigration to nearby cities and overseas. With the deportation of the Jewish population in October 1940, Malsch was "cleansed of Jews." Jews have not returned to reside there since.
