On Sunday - October 16, 1994 in Cambridge, MA
I received the Red Tara Empowerment from
His Eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche,
and on Monday - October 17, 1994 I was given the Red Tara Teaching.
Strong in my convictions, I fulfilled my dream and during the Refuge Ceremony on
Tuesday - October 18, 1994 I was given my name "Padma Dawa Drolma" by Rinpoche.
A busy household consisting of my SO, daughter and grandson prompted me to make
a few adjustments in the plans for the playroom we were building. A small meditation room was
built off the playroom for me, and I began to meditate there as soon as
the outline was drawn upon the cement floor.
During the warm weather that followed I decided I wanted to be outside to
meditate. I had the perfect spot in my back yard and so I went to work clearing
it up and getting the earth ready for the statue of Buddha I had purchased and
just before sunset I
performed a fire puja to bless the ground. I spend many of my summer evenings
outside, enjoying the peace my hard work brought to me.
At long last, I had a sense of belonging.
