2007 Year End Update

We are happy to report that we've survived another year!

For Peg and I, this has been a year of changing paces - to a degree.  Peg stopped working half time in April at her practice where she had been for close to 10 years and has focused her work on her writing.  She is now home full time, managing the household (the dogs in particular), working several hours a day on her next submissions to her writing group that she is working with from around the country.  You can read some of her writing on her blog: http://ps-chimayobound.blogspot.com/

Mike has taken a break from several positions that were taking up a lot of free time and evenings in the community and at our church.   Having some time back to relax in the evenings instead of working at home on other projects has been a great relief.  His medical video work has opened some new doors which continues to fund his real passion of outdoor adventure video, which makes no money at all but is way more fun.   This summer included another trip to Kenya to work and teach, which is detailed in his blog: http://kijabesfm07.blogspot.com/

Daniel is a senior in high school at Ballard this year and is working about 12 hours a week at his first real job at a popular local Mediterranean restaurant.  He is looking at his options after graduation – perhaps going straight into college or taking a year of to work and decide where his interests lie.  He looks like he is done growing – no more growing out of clothes every 6 months.   Daniel joined Mike this summer on his trip to Kenya and helped volunteer at the Kijabe Hospital in a couple different areas of the hospital.

Kristin is in her first year of high school, learning the ropes of the social and educational system at Ballard High.  She had her braces off this year, a cause for much celebration.  She is busy “managing” her social like on email, chat and text messaging.  What did we do without all of these distractions?  Basically, the same thing – just hang out with our friends and try not to get in trouble.  Kristin has also discovered eye for photography – she has done some beautiful work already.

The other family members- Zorro (3) and Oliver (1) – are keeping us busy.  Together they weigh 200 lbs so can be VERY hard to handle if they want to go somewhere.  If the ground is wet, they can drag anyone all the way across the street to visit their dog friends.   They are much better off out in Winthrop were they can run free and feel like they own the place.

We have much to be thankful for, God had given us far more than we deserve and has graced us with a great family, safe travels and meaning in what we do.  What more could you ask for?

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.
