The Project

Yamaha hit it big when they introduced the Enduro series of motorcycles in 1968.   I distinctly remember seeing an older kid in the neighborhood doing wheelies, jumps and donuts in a newly bulldozed construction site on a Yamaha Enduro.   He was tearin' it up.  That was sometime in the early 70's and cooler than heck.   'Been in love with motorbikes ever since.

I met Bert on Thanksgiving Day 2007 at his home near Athens Georgia.  His daughter and my son, Brigid and Dan, are engaged and will marry next spring.  Bert and I are both very proud.   Guess what else?  We're both motorbike enthusiasts!

We went out back to the shed to check out his new Kawasaki dual purpose bike of leisure.  I couldn't help but notice the distinctive lonely exhaust pipe hanging inside the shed.  Is that from an old Yamaha Enduro?  Yep, a '69 DT-1 250cc Enduro.  The rest of it is here somewhere in boxes and on shelves here and there.

Bert was gracious enough to let me take on the Enduro parts as a restoration project.

Lonely exhaust pipe hanging in shed.

There's no mistaking what this exhaust pipe belongs to.

All we need to do is attach these parts to that exhaust pipe.
