Fellow shooter Ted A. was kind enough to send in the following do-it-yourself black powder solvent:

... I thought I'd write as a fellow shooter to suggest another cleaning method which you and possibly future readers might  find to be of use:

Mix up a pint or more of the following: 2 parts hydrogen peroxide, 2 parts alcohol (methyl or isopropyl), and one part Murphy's Oil Soap. Use as a bore solvent and parts wash. Any cuts and abraisions on your hands will be quite antiseptic in the end as well! I find this to be as good or better than commercial solvents, and because it's cheap, one is encouraged to use plenty of it.
