Competition Recommendations
- Image
Capture:
- For
easiest implementation Use SDM (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/sdm/index.htm)
and Canon cameras listed on that page.
- Any
of the many other alternatives are fine as long as the Display Format is
generated prior to entering the image.
- Display Format:
- Use
SPM (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/) or other products to generate the
following format
- “Side
by Side” .jpg image, not Left and Right or Anaglyph.
- Resolution
of 1400x1050 for original image (2800x1050 for the side by side).
This will allow for HDTV resolution.
- Name
file as yyyymmdd-last name-first name-entry number-title.
(e.g. 20090422-Huberty-Al-1-Nova Scotia Coastline #3).
- Place
in Folder DSSyyyymmdd (e.g. DSS20090408). The folder will be at the “root” level and ONLY
contain that meetings entries.
- Include
a .txt file that contains the file names
- 20090422-Huberty-Al-1-Nova
Scotia Coastline #3
- 20090422-Huberty-Al-2-Nova
Scotia Lighthouse #8
- 20090422-Huberty-Al-3-Nova
Scotia Fishing Port #12
- Submit
entries on USB “Thumb Drives” that are labeled with the member’s
name.
- Entering/Scoring
Team
- A
computer separate from the projection computer will be used to enter,
randomize, output for projection, score, output winners for projection and
handout awards.
- Scoring
will be done similarly to the slide competition.
- We
need a separate team of volunteers to coordinate this piece.
- The
Team can edit the existing “slide procedures” available to develop the
digital entry/scoring procedure.
- Projectionist
- Projection
will be on twin DLP projectors. Resolution
and Lumens are determined by the individual projection system but the
brighter and higher resolution projectors are preferred.
- Projection
software can be anything that displays the images without having to modify
them. StereoPhotoMaker is the
defacto standard, but others could arise.
- There
will be two “folders” given to the Projectionist by the Entry/Scoring
team.
- “Randomized”
folder that contains the randomly sequenced entries for the contest.
- “Winners”
folder will contain the winning entries sequenced by their placement
starting with HM moving towards 1st place.
- Timetable
- The
Digital Work Group feels that they have solved the technical questions on
how to accomplish “Digital Competition”.
What are needed now are volunteers to pick up the extra tasks
related to the Entry and Scoring aspect.
Until those people come forward we will continue with only “Open
Projector” formats for digital images.
Questions and comments should be directed to Al
Huberty.
