All we are saying is give peace a chance.
I'm a fairly big fan of the Beatles. I still enjoy the music of John (R.I.P.), Paul, George (R.I.P.) and Ringo. That's why I opened this page with Lennon's lyric, stupid as it may be. Today is January 23, 2003 and the peaceniks are out in force. I watched on "Fox and Friends" this morning an interview with the king of the numb nuts, the guy who is organizing other idiots to go to Iraq and act as human shields. Sorry I do not remember his name and after listening to him I wouldn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing it. Apparently he is a Gulf War veteran. After watching his performance, I find that hard to believe. My suspicion is that he enlisted and was sent to fight. He probably never thought that he ever would have to do any kind of actual combat and once he was in the middle of the fight he got the fecal matter scared out of him and now opposes any military action whatsoever regardless of justification. Anyway, quite frankly he was difficult to listen to, and not only because he was rather belligerent. The upshot of the whole thing is he hates President Bush and he wants to protect the Iraqi people. This may be crass and insensitive, but I hope this guy gets blown to bits. These self-righteous do-gooders sincerely believe that by standing between our troops and their goal they will stop the war machine. I can only hope that Mr. and Ms. Peace Activist have a epiphany milliseconds before they meet their maker that standing in a street in Baghdad holding a sign picturing G.W. Bush with devil horns and chanting anti-American rubbish was not a well though out plan. Actually this could be a good thing. The more of these sniveling, whining brats who end up on the other side of the grass (6' under) the better. They are clearly too afraid to live in the real world where people don't always play nice.
The following is a pretty funny little bit I grabbed off of Neal Boortz's web site. It puts the whole conflict resolution thing in a personal context.
Question:
You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a
dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner and is running at you
while screaming obscenities. In your hand is a Glock .40 and you are an expert shot. You
have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
Liberal Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or
oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that is inspiring him to attack? Could we run
away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a
club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Is
it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me or
would he just be content to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my
family get away while he was stabbing me? This is all so confusing! I need to debate this
with some friends for a few days to try to come to a conclusion.
Conservative Answer:
BANG!
Now on to the "peace rallies" that were held worldwide last weekend. These were not rallies for peace. These were rallies against everything conservative under the guise of peace. Animal rights wackos, pro-abortion militants, anti-capitalism anarchists, civil rights race-baiters, et.al. carried signs and screeched over public address systems all over the world. Some small. Some large. All pointless. I can appreciate those who are hesitant to go to war. I think most people are. However, there must come a time to fight for what is right. Peace does not just happen. It is not a natural state of man. As long as there are people who are willing to kill and oppress, there must be people willing to stand up and oppose such evil-doers (Thanks, GW.) I have a small bust of Ronald Reagan on my desk. Ronaldus Magnus was a man who truly knew the meaning of the term "peace through strength". Peace is not achieved by whining on the National Mall or in the town square. Peace is not achieved by writing poetry. Peace in the face of a threat is achieved by a show of force and the clear expression that force will be used if necessary. There is a reason protests in totalitarian and dictatorial regimes are rare. That kind of thing can get you killed.
It is now February 4, 2003. We have heard the State of the Union address. Secretary of State Colin Powell will lay the smackdown on the U.N. tomorrow. (I apologize for the pro wrestling reference.) The French and Germans are still balking. I do not understand this. Ironically, it is George W. Bush that is attempting to keep the United Nations, and therefore nations like France and Germany, relevant. Donald Rumsfeld has it dead on right when he called those two nations "old Europe". Many of the nations that support this action are those who have recently suffered under the oppression of communist regimes and are starting to flourish under newly achieved freedom. I speak of nations such as Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Perhaps these are not the most powerful players at the table, but they know something that the cheese-eating surrender monkey French do not. And I haven't even mentioned the support of Spain, Portugal, Italy, Denmark and Great Britain. The fact is that France and Russia have deals with Iraq that they don't want to lose money on. Germany has dealings with Hussein that I believe they don't want exposed. (I don't have proof on that. It's just a suspicion.) The flimsy stool that they are using to support their wishes for inaction is the U.N inspections. According to the Frogs, Krauts and former and current Reds, the inspectors are supposed to find evidence of Iraq's non-compliance with disarmament. The only trouble with that is that is not what the U.N. Resolution 1441 is all about. The onus is on the Iraqis to prove they have complied and how they did it. It is not the responsibility of the inspectors to play hide and seek to find the evidence. The balking world leaders know this. The U.N. knows this. Appeasement and containment will not work. This is now over. This is not the beginning of a process; it is the end of a twelve year odyssey. The frustrating thing is that we are trying to protect these neo-pacifist nations. It would be inhumane not to do so. I hate to break it to you, France and Germany, but in the eyes of the bad guys, y'all are infidels too.
And another thing...
