Do you Bob take this man or woman or whatever to be your lawfully wedded, uh, something?

It is time to eliminate the concept of government-sanctioned marriage. I’m semi-serious here. It has been under assault from several fronts and I can no longer see its purpose. We see from the Hollywood show-biz types that marriage is not necessary to have children. They run around having kids out of wedlock like it’s a career-enhancing move. And they are the artists. We must all learn from them because they are more progressive than we humble morons. It doesn’t even take two parents to raise a child. Just one parent and a nanny. Or for the great middle and lower classes, one parent and a day care center.

Then there are the rank and file Average Joes and Janes tearing the institution asunder. What is the current percentage of marriages that end in divorce? Way too freakin’ many. If it is not a sacred bond between a man and a woman and can be broken as easily as a long-distance plan, it is serving no purpose. The gay marriage proponents have one thing right. There are plenty of heteros laying waste to the sanctity of marriage. Marital infidelity is no big deal anymore, certainly not among political candidates. And they are the leaders. We must all learn from them because they are smarter than we humble morons. It’s only those wacky conservatives that insist that husbands and wife remain true to their spouses. I mean people are animals with urges and whatnot. Marriage quashed those natural urges. It goes against the order of things.

We cannot forget the militant homosexual community. Theirs is the most clever attack of them all by trying to change the very definition of what a marriage is. Despite almost universal agreement and thousands of years of tradition that a marriage is between one man and one woman, they have twisted the argument into one about rights. Of course it is not. A gay man has the same right to marry a woman as I do. A gay man does not have the right to marry another man, just as I don’t. There have been gay men who have married. Elton John married a woman in 1984. That guy who married Liza Minnelli was a flaming homo. It can happen. But that isn’t relevant. Since most gay men and women do not want to marry a member of the opposite sex but insist on “equal rights” with heterosexuals in an institution that does not translate to same-sex marriages, it is the marriages that have to go. And they are the oppressed. We must all learn from them because they are more open-minded than we humble morons. If the definition cannot be changed, then the only way “equal rights” is going to be achieved is to eliminate marriage. Not to do so leaves a system of discrimination.

I’m never going to be married anyway, so it won’t really bother me. If churches want to recognize some sort of religious union, fine. There will be churches that okay gay unions as well. People can still wear rings and such to signify their love and commitment. But no more government marriages. Gays and straights are equal. Infidelity has no legal repercussions. Children can be raised by Hillary’s village. Sometimes it is impossible to save something and you just have to blow it up. Kaboom!

And another thing...

So now we have a candidate. John F. Kerry. Or JFK II as he would want you to think. He is a Vietnam veteran. I know a lot of the Bush supporters wanted the president to run against Dean. That would have been fun. Dean is as loose a cannon as I've seen from a high-profile major party candidate. But he faded and Kerry successfully pulled off his rope-a-dope strategy in Iowa, creating a snowball effect that has brought him to the brink of the nomination. By the way, Kerry served in Vietnam. Mr. Kerry has served in the Senate for twenty years and has voted on all sides of just about every issue. He has more flip-flops than you would find on the beach in Fort Lauderdale. There are so many that I don't want to start listing them here. Maybe I will get into that as the election nears. Kerry, who went to Vietnam by the way, has offered nothing positive in his campaign so far. Of course that is not the plan this year. It's all about getting Bush out of office. It doesn't really matter who does it or what will happen after the election.

And another thing...

I have stated previously that polls are meaningless. I mostly mean the use of polls as news generators. You know, when a news organization will conduct a poll, gather the results and then run around to politicians for their reaction to them. Or when a news event occurs they run around taking polls to get the nations opinion of whatever happened. All that having been said, I'm going to throw some poll numbers at you. They are taken from Rasmussen. I will not discuss the presidential preference polls. It is way too early and I tend not to have much faith in them. They are okay to use to look at trends over time, but as a snapshot they are misleading. However I will give you some polls about opinions regarding the candidates.

Do you get the impression from the news that this is true? Sure, if you watch Fox News or read the alternative media on the web you would get this news that things are going well. But the old guard big media keeps spinning the quagmire and highlighting the bad news. Maybe their power is waning. We can only hope.

Maybe I've just been listening to the shrill screeching of the ABBA Dems too much. ABBA meaning Anybody But Bush Again, not Agnetha, Benny, Björn and Anni-Frid. I had been participating in discussion boards that are frequented by ABBA's. So many of their posts included phrases such as "everybody knows that..." or "it is obvious that..." and were followed by some falsehood. (For example, "Everybody knows that Bush lied about the reasons for going to war in Iraq." or "It is obvious that the economy is getting worse.") Foolishly I tried to challenge them on the facts, but to no avail. We couldn't even agree on definitions of words. I was getting so frustrated by the inability to have an intelligent discussion with them I stopped visiting that site. If any of you have gone through what I experienced on those boards, take heart in the numbers above. They are contrary to what those mental midgets "know" to be true and "know" what the rest of us think about things.

Is Your Firm Hiring or Laying Off Workers?

Hiring 31%
Laying Off 18%

Worried About Losing Your Job?

Yes 18%
No 76%
Not Sure 7%

Do these number jibe with ones that you hear from the media? I heard a story on the radio this morning that said that John Kerry will try to take advantage of the poor economy. Poor economy? The economy has been growing for some time now. See the numbers above regarding jobs. The unemployment rate of 5.6% is no higher than it was during the campaign year of 1996. Then it was called low and good for the incumbent president, Bill Clinton. Now it is called high and bad for the incumbent president, George W. Bush. You do the math. And they say there's no media bias. (By the way, 5.6% unemployment means 94.4% employment. That's close to statistical full employment. But we won't worry about the vast majority of us who are working. Let's think about the small minority who are not.) Another example of the twisting of facts is in another finding from Rasmussen. 38% of those polled March 3, 2004 think the nation is in a recession while 38% think it is not. The fact is that it is clearly not. There are no ifs ands or buts about it. It is the truth. The recession ended. It ran from March to November 2001. The economy has been growing ever since then. Yet with the doom and gloom from the major media opinion shapers they managed to convince half the country that we are still in recession. It has obviously worked on 38% of people. They believe something that is not so.

In the light of Chairman Greenspan's latest pronouncement, the polls on Social Security are interesting. So a majority of those polled prefer smaller government and lower taxes and would like to see personal investment in Social Security retirement accounts. Then why do our elected officials not give us that? The system is going to collapse. Something needs to be done. But nobody wants to touch that political third rail. Courage is not rampant in Washington.

If you are interested in such polls, you can go to www.rasmussenreports.com and get a feeling of where we are as a nation. You might find out that it is not what you are being told. The media often take one side of an issue and inflates it to lead you to believe that there is some great outcry or crisis but you know that something just isn't right about it. A majority of Americans trust President Bush, oppose gay marriage, support the war in Iraq, want smaller government and are not worried about losing their jobs. Kind of makes the picture from the mainstream media look like a Bizzaro world, eh? You are not alone.
