Great News again!! We will have even more space at the Bellevue Hilton than we did last year. We now have both of the big ballrooms which increases our dance floor space by a minimum of 1300 sq ft. This gives us at least 6500 sq ft of dance floor We hope this additional space will accommodate our continued growth for the next couple years. Please join us for this exciting event. We are looking forward to providing you with the larger area that so many of you have asked for. Thanks for your continuing support and help. This is truly your event!
2008 Theme - Lil Abner
This
years theme revolves around the Al Capp's 1950's cartoon strip, Lil Abner.
Imagine yourself in the Appalachian hills of Dancepatch USA with little connection to the
modern world. Dancing is the thing to do since no one works. With no
income for fancy duds, you can put together any combination of strips, plaids, flowers, and polka dots
and you'll become one of the unpolitically correct members of the town.
Every piece of clothing must have multiple patches to fit in. Lil
Abner always wears his bib overalls and most of the other guys wear vests with
crazy pants. Daisy Mae hangs out in a short skirt and polka dotted blouse.
And then there is Mammy Yokum in her striped tights and jean skirt and Pappy
Yokum in his patched overalls. Comfy and crazy is a must. Off to
Dancepatch USA or bust. The big event every year in the town is the Sadie
Hawkins Day race in
General Event Information The registration desk opens at 12:00pm and classes start at 12:45pm. Friday afternoon and early evening the dance halls will be offering free beginning dance lessons to all starting at 4:30pm. Friday night the Hoe-down will start at 8:00 pm with three dance halls offering different types of music & dancing (Swing, Line, General Country). Friday night’s Jack &Jill dance contest promises a hootin’ and hollowin’ good time. Saturday brings more dance lessons, a professional dinner show and Hoe-Down with professional entertainment and dancers, followed by a dance that will last well into the morning hours. Be sure to dress for the theme on Saturday night - or for the whole weekend for that matter. Those of you who have attended this event in the past know that we love to fully immerse ourselves in the theme. Expect to see a lot of fun outfits throughout the weekend. Saturday Night Activities Saturday evening will be filled with the usual fun of a sit down dinner followed by a show and lots of dancing. Stay tuned for more info. Don’t miss your opportunity to share this special time with your dancin’ hillbilly friends. Enjoy the grub, the great show and hours of open dancing. Our Dinner count is limited so get your seat early! The Registration Desk will open at 7:30 am on Saturday morning for assignment of Saturday evening’s dinner seats. Make sure you have all the tickets for all the hillbillies you want to be seated with, as they will be assigned at that time. Only one person per group need sign up for their table. The line for dinner tickets will start forming in the early morning hours (before 7:00am, for sure) so come in your PJs and plan on some dancing. Limit: 10 tickets per table representative. Friday night Activities Sign up for the Jack & Jill contest and get the chance to win some great prizes. Don’t miss it! The event will be held at Bellevue Hilton, Bellevue with free parking!
