"On January 2, 1907, individual phones were introduced [in Barrington, N.H.] when the exchange was installed in the home of A.B. Locke and managed by George and Miss Edith Locke, assisted by their sisters, Mildred (Calef) and Gertrude (Weeks)."
For twelve years there was a cooperative creamery operated under old Grange Hall on Waldron's Hill. Alphonso B. Locke was the manager. All the milk from Center Strafford and Bow Lake was brought into a small shed, lowered through a trap door, poured into big tanks, and then into seperators. This business was very successful until the early 1900's when milk production in Barrington began to decrease.
