12. Fred Carl (Carl) Pittenger was born on 9 Dec 1888 in Delaware County, IN. He died in 1951.

F. Carl Pittenger, Secretary-Treasurer of the National Clay Products and Silo Company of Muncie, was born on a farm in the eastern part of Delaware County, about midway between Albany and Selma, November 9, 1888, and is a son of Fletcher D. and Alice R. (Shroyer) Pittenger, both of whom were members of pioneer families in that part of the county, the former a son of Rev. John A. Pittenger, who in his generation was widely known hereabout as a local Methodist preacher. Fletcher D. Pittenger was a farmer, operating the place on which his wife was born, the old Anthony Shroyer farm in Liberty Township. Of the three children born to him and his wife the subject of this sketch alone survives. Reared on the home farm, F. Carl Pittenger was graduated from the Selma High School and not long afterward became employed as a traveling salesman for a Kalamazoo, Michigan, tank and silo company. For five years he remained thus employed and then he transferred his services to the Indianapolis branch of the John Deere Plow Company, with which concern he was connected for five years, or until 1920, when he became connected with the National Clay Products and Silo Company of Muncie, which was organized in that year by W. W. Wingate, President of the company, as is set out elsewhere, and has since been serving as Secretary and Treasurer of the company. This company was incorporated for the purpose of manufacturing clay products, hollow building tile and silos a specialty, and has plants at Brazil and Monroe, Indiana, with offices in the Neely Block at Muncie, and has developed a good business in its line. In 1999 F. C. Pittenger was united in marriage to Mabel E. Rose, of Muncie, and to this union one child has been born, a son, Robert C. Pittenger. Mr. and Mrs. Pittenger are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Mr. Pittenger is a Freemason. He was married to Mabel Elizabeth Rose on 9 Feb 1919 in Delaware County, IN.
