1754. Listed as a constable for Orange Co, VA (Order Book 6, page 2)


Charged with 7 tithables in Louisa County, VA.


From a statement of a descendant, Thomas took part in the Revolution and was at Yorktown. At one time his home was headquarters for Gen. Lafayette. He witnessed the surrender of Cornwallis.

He married Isabel Susan Bartlett May 1753 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia (Louisa?), daughter of William Bartlett and Susannah Davis. Isabel was born 10 August 1739 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia and died April 1818 in Fayette County, Kentucky.

Kay Oatas found this: On "1887 Census of VA" which was really a personal property tax list and included at that time was Fayette Co, KY (called Kentucky Co or Fayette Co, VA). On that list were Thomas GRAVES, Jr and John GRAVES along with a John RANDELL! (no white males 16-21, 4 blacks over 16, 2 blacks under 16, 4 horses and 2 cows)
