Here is Mandolin #4  (1997-1999)

As you can see the instrument is currently in the "raw" state.  Since these picture I have stained it a dark brown with sunburst and have just finished spraying lacquer.

The back and neck are bird's eye maple.  The back is a one piece while I glued up the neck out of two pieces.  This is beautiful wood, but it is tough to work!  I think my next instrument will be out of the more traditional curly maple.

In addition to the "Wild Flower" peghead which I think I will standardize on for future instruments, I also use "buttercups" for my fretboard position markers. - Just trying to be a little different!
