Mechanical Information

This section describes the mechanics of my scale M1045.

Body on and graphics provided by my friend, Claire. Email her at caci1228@yahoo.com for a great looking tank ! Thanks, Claire !

The body was constructed of masonite and coated in TiteBondII wood glue for moisture resistance. It's just a shell that drops over and bolts onto the chassis. One of the reasons I chose the M1045 was that I believed the body would be relatively easy to build. It's one of the few things I was right about from my early ideas.

These photos also show the vehicle after I converted to a commercial paintball marker. There's a Viewloader Charger and 12oz CO2 bottle on the turret. The marker is fired via an opto-isolator from an output of the Velleman I/O board. It's all solid-state to the marker, there are no relays and no solenoids that pull a trigger.

I still have chronic steering problems. I'm currently looking at alternatives.

Better rear construction and more secure battery retention features. I had a little problem, there. You can also see the new steering mechanism. It's a wiper driven with an Oatley jumbo servo kit (http://secure.oatleyelectronics.com)

Even this didn't work for me, however. I need a different solution.
