I wanted to build a tank with a suspension. I tossed around a lot of ideas before I finally selected one. It's simple, it doesn't take any interior tank space, and it's adjustable. There are diagrams and photos below.
I ended up replacing the commercial torsion springs shown in the photos. I wound my own stronger torsion springs out of 1/8" music wire. Frank Pitelli has consolidated my notes into a fine "how-to" on the RC Tank Combat web site. Check it out here.

04-2009 I added these suspension adjusters to modify the suspension strength. It's a small 16 Ga steel flange with a hook bent into the edge to grab the torsion spring leg. |
