Who will publish your memoir? Everybody dreams of having a book published by HarperCollins, Random House, or Simon and Schuster. Realistically, however, the big publishers are commercial publishers, and they have to make a buck by spotlighting the famous, the powerful, and sometimes the villainous. But there are many small publishers who can turn your story into a handsome book. You might have to bear the publishing cost, but in return you will get a priceless account of your life, a summing-up of all you’ve done and all you’ve learned. You can’t put a dollar value on that. What do I do? I take you through the biggest part of the job — the writing.
