BERKELEY COUNTY, SC
ARES® FIELD DAY 2006

Berkeley County ARES® participated in ARRL Field Day 2006 on Saturday - Sunday, 24-25 June 2006.

Berkeley County ARES® was active on both days of Field Day. However, due to severe weather conditions, we curtailed activities early on Sunday

We operated as a 2F station, along with an HF/GOTA operating position.
We gained extra points for operating an ATV station, a visitation by a served agency, event publicity, submission of our entry via the web and, an information table.
HF antennas included two G5RV dipoles oriented EW and NS. These antennas were strung from the 150' derrick style tower at one front corner of the building to a tree by the road near the middle of the building and to a tree in the parking lot. We also used a 5/8 wave vertical antenna for 10M operation of the GOTA station. The existing VHF/UHF antenna on the tower was used for incidental communications and talk-in.
To meet the Class F station requirements, Berkeley County Emergency Preparedness conducted their monthly operational test of the emergency backup generator, for about one hour, the morning of 24 June.

SCORES

We had 171 Phone contacts on 80m, 40m and 20m for the two HF stations. The GOTA station had 13 phone contacts. That is a total of 184 contacts multiplied by our 2X power multiplier equals 368 claimed points.

Our clained bonus points totaled 450 for a total score of 818 points!
