Fua Dia Congo presents this year's performance of the popular Congolese dance theater Malaki Matanga at the Laney College Theater, 900 Fallon Street in Oakland on Saturday, May 24, 1997 at 8 p.m.

According to the production's choreographer, Malonga Casquelourd, Malaki Matanga is a full length theatrical dance production creating a collage out of central African sacred dance, mime, music and poetry based on the stories of the dances themselves and the African heritage This year's production will premiere the highly innovative Congolese dance-drumming Return To Work The Earth.

Malaki Matanga features an enviable cast of over thirty exceptional African dance-drumming professionals drawn from the past and present of Fua's illustrious performance history.

Fua Dia Congo is a renowned Oakland based non-profit performing arts company dedicated to broadening access to African cultural arts in communities across the United States.
