Next Music Parents Meeting Monday 3/8/04 -- 7:30PM in the Middle School Band Room
Please note that this is a new date and place
March is the month that we traditionally reach out to Parents of students in the 7th and 8th grade. The Pops in April is the first time many 7th and 8th graders work on a Music Parents fundraiser. Flyers will be going out after school vacation to Middle school parents.
The date change was made to allow parents to attend the school committee presentation of the budget to the selectman on March 1st
We will return to our first Monday of the month schedule in April
New Marching Band Uniform Sponsorship forms.
After 25 years of representing the “Tradition of Excellence”, the East Bridgewater High School Viking Marching Band will be getting a new look.
The band’s current uniform style has been in existence since 1979. The uniforms are worn, faded, and out-of-style and are no longer available.
The Music Parents are looking for individuals, families, businesses and groups to sponsor a uniform.
Names of sponsors will be placed on plaques at both the GWMMS and EBHS, along with a photo of the EB Viking Band of 2004 in the new uniforms. Sponsors will also receive two free tickets to the Pops Concert in April, and the Home Show in October. An appreciation banquet for sponsors is also being planned for the future.

Concert Band Adjudication Festival to be held at EBHS
East Bridgewater HS will host
the annual High School Concert Band Festival this year.
It will be held on March 24th
from 4- 7.
Any parents who are free during this time and would be willing to help would be appreciated.

EB Cultural Council announces battle of the Bands
The East Bridgewater Cultural Council
will hold a battle of the bands. It will be held on June 10th 2004.

Schedule Changes
We have several schedule changes
The music banquet
has been moved from May 2 to May 9 to accommodate the Vet’s Club. They are very
generous with us and we agreed to move to help them out. It is now Sunday May 9 at 4PM Please note
this is Mother’s Day
There is a new
Jazz band Performance added to the list. Both the High school and the middle
school Jazz bands will do 2 shows on Thursday 2-12-2004 at noon and 12:50PM.
The POPs
concert will be Friday and Sunday April 2, 4 this year to accommodate the
Winter Guard Performers.
Music Jacket Policy
The Music Jacket Policy has changed since January 2003. If you have not reviewed it in awhile, please check it out. It is not posted on the web page
Changes include:
Reduction
in points for in class activities
Increase
in points for extra curricular activities
Decrease
in fund raising points
School Budget Time Again
It is budget time again. The Selectmen
have asked the school committee to provide a level funded budget for next
fiscal year.
The problem with level funded is that
the cost of federal, state and contractual mandated items goes up every year.
This means that in order to provide level funding, the school committee is
looking at cutting almost $1 Million from a $16M budget.
Since Music is not a Federal, state or
contractual mandate, it is one of the items that can be cut.
Please follow the budget process and
let your voice be heard. It is important that people show up. A full room at
school committee or a selectman’s meeting gets attention. Budgets Items are
very difficult to change at Town Meeting in the spring.

page as we get them.
