East Bridgewater Music Parents

Jacket Policy

 

 

Jackets will be awarded by the Music Parents Association to members of the East

Bridgewater High School Band, Chorus, and Color Guard using the following criteria.

Jackets will be presented during the Winter and Spring Concerts. Points must be

accumulative by the end of the students Junior year.

 

1. Point System:

Points will be given for the completion of a year of Band or Chorus. Additional points will be given for Co-Curricular Activities such as Rhythmix, Fall Guard, Winter Guard, Marching Band, and Treble Chorus.  Points will be accumulative for any high school activity started in seventh or eighth grade.

Total Points needed for jacket:              70

 

2. Grades:

a.             Students must maintain a B average (85) in Band and or Chorus.

b.             Grades will be determined as outlined in the Band Handbook and

will measure attendance, attitude, cooperation and responsibility.

 

3. Financial Obligations:

All outstanding financial obligations to the Music Department and/or the Music Parents Association must be met.

 

4. a.             Music Parents Association members in charge of any fund raising event

will keep an accurate listing of all students who help participate in that

event. At the end of the event, the list will be turned over to either the

President or Vice President of the Association to be filed for the

purposes of Jacket Award Criteria documentation.

 

   b.             Each student must participate in a minimum of two (2) major fundraisers

each year. Failure to do so will render the student ineligible from

receiving a jacket. Major fundraisers are determined by the Music

Parents Executive Board.

 

 

 

 

  c.             Conflicts or concerns with Section b. may be brought, in writing, to the

attention of the Music Director and the President of the Music Parents

Association.

 

5. Presentation:

a.             The jackets will be awarded biannually by the Music Parents

Association.  The program will continue as long as economically feasible as determined by the Association.

 

 

6. Jacket Recommendation and Selection Process:

 

a.            All Program Directors will turn into the Music Parents Association President a list of those students successfully completing their program.

b.            Transferred students will be dealt with on an individual basis by the Music Parents Association. They will need written proof of the students participation and fundraising from their prior Program Director.

c.            The Association President will document input regarding fundraising, attitude, etc. and return the list to the Director of Music.

d.             The Music Director may use his/her discretion in presenting other

students to the Jacket Committee who he/she feels may be eligible

for a jacket but may not fulfill all requirements as previously outlined.

e.            Seniors who are eligible for jackets can choose between a mall gift

certificate for $50.00 or a music jacket.
