Hello and welcome to the first East Bridgewater Music Parents Monthly Newsletter.
First, if you want off the mailing list, please just hit
reply and put “Take me off” in the subject.
The goal of this new letter is to communicate to the parents of students in the East Bridgewater Music Program, what the Music Parents Organization is doing, and what all the town wide music programs are doing. Every year, one of the biggest problems we have is communicating with everyone in a timely way.
This year we will be emailing this monthly newsletter and working to keep the web Page up to date
http://home.comcast.net/~e.coyne/music.htm
I want this to include everything musical in the high school, so please let me know when you know about musical events, students doing something musical, and awards that students groups receive.
I don’t have everyone’s email address yet, so if you know of someone who should be getting this, pass his or her email along to me. Please don’t hit the reply all button.
There are 2 big things to talk about in October. Schedules and the Viking Marching Band
Mr. Britton submitted his program schedule at the September Music Parents’ meeting. The next step is to firm up dates on the “TBA’s and to deal with funding issues on items that are not funded by the school budget. It is also time to discuss any other activities that members would like to propose.
The goal is to get a firm schedule and to understand how much and when Music Parent money will be required to make it all work.
The October General Meeting is Monday Oct 6th at 7:30 in the High School Library.
The marching band is traditionally the first music program out of the gate at East Bridgewater, and a very big part of the Music Parents work until Nov 1st. The High School Band competes in a marching band association know as “The New England Scholastic Band Association” (NESBA) http://www.nesba.org/
East Bridgewater hosted the first competitive marching band
competition of the NESBA season at the
high school on Saturday Sept 27th. The Viking Marching Band won all
the awards in their division (Div I)

We can’t begin to thank all the volunteers that helped with
set up, food, tickets, parking and T-shirts. We had a great turn out this year
for help and everything went smoothly.
A special thanks go to Peter Folloni the Home Show Chairman, Ellen Coyne for running the food concession, Maureen Hanratty the T Shirt concession, Chuck Smith for re-inventing the program and Jack Pearsull for donating his EMT skills for the evening.
This year we were helped out by some of our alumnae parents, who came back to run the fried dough concession. The Alumnae parents are parents who kids have all graduated from the high school, and yet they are still willing to give up a Saturday night to help the next generation of musicians.
