  • Elizabeth's CELEBRITIES IN DISGRACE is forthcoming as a short film in 2010 from Bravo Sierra Motion Pictures. Elizabeth co-wrote the screenplay, based on her novella.   • TONYA & NANCY: THE ROCK OPERA premiered in 2008 at the World Trade Center Auditorium in Portland, OR, produced by Triangle Productions; directed by Donald Horn; libretto by Elizabeth Searle; music by Michael Teoli; additional music and original chamber opera score by Abigail Al-Doory Cross. The show's initial 3-week run was EXTENDED due to popular demand. A new production is in the works in LA for 2010.

  • Elizabeth's works and the Rock Opera were featured by Garrison Keillor on his Writer's Almanac segment on NPR for January 13, 2009.~~Elizabeth was interviewed about the Rock Opera for a NEWSDAY article published in February of 2009. She also discussed the Rock Opera on CBS's THE EARLY SHOW in June, 2008 and in: Boston Herald.

  • Elizabeth has fiction in two forthcoming anthologies: MEN IN BED: WOMEN AUTHORS WRITE ABOUT MALE SEXUAL EXPERIENCE (Other Voices Press) and THE BEST OF POST ROAD, an anthology of selected works from Post Road magazine.

  • 2009/2010 PUBLICATIONS:
    ~~Elizabeth has stories on FANZINE ("www.thefanzine.com") and SUPERSTITION Review and in the Fall 2009 MASSACHUSETTS REVIEW and forthcoming in 2010 in SEATTLE REVIEW. Elizabeth had short stories in the Spring 2008 issues of NEW ENGLAND REVIEW and HAYDEN'S FERRY REVIEW.

  • Elizabeth is featured in the anthology ILLUMINATING FICTION: TODAY'S BEST WRITERS OF FICTION edited by Sherry Ellis (Red Hen Press, 2009). Other writers featured include Arthur Golden, Julia Glass and Steve Almond. Elizabeth and others will discuss the book JAN. 26, 2010 at PORTER SQUARE BOOKS in CAMBRIDGE, MA.

  • Ireland Writing Residency: Elizabeth taught and gave a seminar and reading at the Stonecoast MFA Irish Residency in July, 2009.

  • University of Iowa Press has announced that it will publish a new paperback version of Elizabeth's Iowa Fiction Prize book of stories, MY BODY TO YOU. Dates and details TBA .

  • ROCK OPERA AWARD NOMINATIONS: TONYA & NANCY: THE ROCK OPERA was nominated for Best Original Musical and Best Original Song by The Portland Area Music Awards, 2008, an award voted by Portland area audiences.

  • BOSTON CABARET SONGWRITER'S SHOWCASE 2008: Songs from TONYA & NANCY: THE ROCK OPERA were chosen as the thirty minute grand finale of Boston Cabaret's Songwriter's Showcase and were performed May 25 at Blacksmith House in Harvard Square. The performance was reviewed in Theater Mirror which wrote: "Both [Tonya] and Nancy skate on hilariously thin ice in Elizabeth Searle's quirky Rock Musical...The Searle/Teoli show has showstopping numbers...There is something new under the sun..."

  • 2008/2009 WRITING CONFERENCES: Nov., 2008: Elizabeth appeared on a panel on Erotic Writing at the Write Angles Writing Conference at Mt. Holyoke.~~Feb., 2009: DESERT NIGHTS, RISING STARS Writers’ Conference at Arizona State University; Elizabeth taught a workshop, and gave a seminar; she also appeared at this conference in 2008, 2007 , 2006 and 2005.

  • 2007/2008 PUBLICATIONS: Elizabeth's essay "Letter to Laura" appears in THE DARFUR ANTHOLOGY (2007); all proceeds go to aid for Darfur;
    DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME: Contemporary Authors on John Hughes; published by Simon Spotlight/ Simon & Schuster (2007); included is Elizabeth’s essay THE SCREAM, WITH LIPGLOSS.

  • June, 2007: TONYA & NANCY: THE OPERA was chosen as one of the top three finalists in the OPERA VISTA competition; excerpts from the opera were performed by Opera Vista in Houston, Texas on June 23, 2007
