The 1969 Stonewall resistance was a radical event in American history. It required radical hope on the part of people who were fed up with discrimination and continual harassment by society and government. No one thought those queens at Stonewall had it in them to fight back and inaugurate a liberation movement that continues today. Jesus used the image of a mustard seed when explaining the kingdom of God.
God's actions in the world are like the smallest of all seeds which become the greatest of all shrubs. Let's remember that Stonewall was a result of radical hope on the part of God and God's people. Stonewall was a God action.
Today, I continue to believe in radical hope and to spread it to all those who suffer in society. I will continually be a part of God's actions in the world. Amen.
