and other UNIX emulators for Windows

I don't think MS is evil...I just think they make really crappy OS'es." -Linus Torvalds - 07/19/98

UNIX-command line emulators

Why UNIX if you're running Windows95 or NT?

the C-shell-an excellent port of the c-shell for UNIX. Features command completion, variable substitution, and all the UNIX goodies.

The KORN shell ported to Win32 platforms by David Korn, released by AT&T, supported with extensive documentation and 3 friendly listserves. ENJOY! See how David Korn put Microsoft in it's place!! :)

XWindows-shell replacements

What is, and why Litestep?| Some Litestep screenshots of mine| A series of Perl hacks of mine.

EVWM is a new shell replacement like fvwm from the Linux world

Important Litestep links:

Window Blinds - an excellent title-bar replacement tool. Very stable

Window Pictures - an excellent piece of software to change your windows for a smoother, cooler Xwindows look. It's rock-solid and reliable. Unfortunately, it's not freeware, but it only costs $22, I believe.

The Wonderful Icon - allows you to add hotkeys to do standard windowing functions as well as special ones found in Xwindows. For example, attaching a hotkey to maximize, minimize, also adding functionality for send to back, bring to front, and so forth.
