Programming is one of my passions. I've been fascinated by it since the early nineties, when I first took a programming course in college. Ever since then, I've worked darn hard to learn how to program. Once I was introduced to UNIX and Open Source, I worked to incorporate those cultural elements and styles into my programming.
Here I offer up to the world some of what I've produced. I've written a lot more code than you'll find here, but unfortunately, what is not here belongs to my employer. I code what I can in my spare time at home, but that gets too little time to do anything really cool.
Mostly what I focus on is scripting. I would love to do some C work, but I have never had need for an application which would give me an excuse to do it in C. Most of what I need can be done more quickly in Python. While I do love programming, my profession focuses me on Information Security. Most of my programs are created out of necessity for that particulary IT discipline.
My programming experience is varied. I started with Visual Basic (there, that's one skeleton out of the closet!) in about 1994. I wrote a little app to support an undergraduate Chemistry course. When I got to graduate school, I learned how to code in Java, and became addicted to Object Oriented programming. I also learned Perl while I was there. Once I hit the workplace, I was introduced to Python, Korn and Bourne shell scripting. I've dabbled in C, but as I've alreday mentioned, I have never had a good opportunity to ever tackle a serious project in it.
