Hackerspeak

Definitions
- 31337 H4X0rz
- A common term used by black-hat "hackers"[!] to describe themselves. These people are typically as far away from the true meaning of the word hacker[!] as can be (see the jargon file). They are, by definition, criminals who break computer security systems, gain illicit access to others' data and resources. The term itself is a fragment of Hackerspeak (see below).

- Hackerspeak
- A free-form dialect of english where numbers are randomly substituted for letters whose glyphs resemble the number chosen, however vaguely. Random capitilization in the middle of words is also used, as well as random letter-for-letter replacement. An example of hackerspeak for the sentance, "See spot, see spot crack, see spot get caught; bad spot!" could read: "Z33 sP07, 5e3 Sp0T Cr4Ck, s33 zP07 G3t c4UgH7; 84d Spo7! A large number of possibilities exist, however.
