From 2000 to Now

Our last CHRISTMAS*HAND*IN*HAND was presented in 2000 and saw over 6,000 visitors over the 5 days. The Event was constructed and staffed by members of about 700 volunteers from  FPC families and from neighboring churches and friends of FPC members who got caught up in the magic of our special gift. Thats over 4,000 hours of volunteer effort! We are extremely grateful and thankful to the co-chairpersons Joanne & Roger Blair, Auction Chairs Al and Kay Huberty,  and all the volunteers that headed and participated in committees, events, construction, hosting and guiding.

The 2003 C*H*I*H Committee Forms

The Steering Committee is now being formed for the December 2003 Event. At the helm will be co-chairs  Ed & Sheila Krebs. Spearheading the Auction will be Kay & Al Huberty.  We are looking for volunteer leaders for the many of the Coordinator seats on the Steering Committee, and hoping to find an additional co-chair/co-chair couple to "learn the ropes". Contact Ed & Sheila Krebs  to put your name on the list for any of the volunteer spots!

The Auction is Coming

CHRISTMAS*HAND*IN*HAND is funded entirely out of a single fund-raising event. On March 29th, 2003 we will gather together in Knox Auditorium of First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham for a very unique auction event. Donation pledges are now being sought for items to be included in the auction. What kind of items will be part of the auction collection?  That's one of the things that makes this event so unique. We will see new merchandise donated by private individuals and local businesses. Donations of special, unique craft items may include quilts, handpainted apparel, and even a custom crocheted baby blanket with your baby's initials. A variety of artwork may include original paintings, numbered lithographs, ceramics, and other pieces. We'll likely see a few antiques and perhaps some collectibles. Especially unique to this auction are personally offered services and outings. Examples from past years include boating and fishing outings, golf outings, use of vacation homes, and even a picnic lunch with one of the pastors! Small items will be available from the fixed price store area, and we always have some fun with silent auctions, door prizes, and guest auctioneers. So mark the date and please consider what you can donate to make this year's event a special one. Click here for an auction update.

It's Time To Get Involved

Believe it or not, December 7, 2003 isn't far away when there are so many things to get ready for. As in past events, it is anticipated that we'll host over 10,000 guests. In order to get ready, we'll end up needing nearly 1000 volunteer spots to be filled, including places for all skills, ages, experience, and time. And while we're still putting together the Steering committee, we know we'll need your support.  Whether you coordinate an event or come help us build, guide a tour or bake cookies, donate an auction item or buy a quilt, act a part or sew a costume, you'll be part of the magic of CHRISTMAS*HAND*IN*HAND, our gift to the community. Volunteers from neighborhood church groups who have experienced the joy of prior years may contact Ed & Sheila Krebs  to see how their organization can help bring the real joy and magic into the lives of our neighbors.
