Wood Family Farm, where the grass is greener, the cows

are happy,  and the pigs have dirt on their noses..

Wood Family Farm is a family operated, small farm located midway between Albany and Salem. When visiting our farm, you may see sheep grazing contently, pigs basking in the sun or piglets suckling their mothers.

Through our products, on-farm pickups, website and farmers market conversations we hope to share with you many of the benefits, joys, and challenges of life on our farm.

Our products may be purchased at the Albany Farmers Market, the Corvallis Farmers Market and from our farm by appointment.

Philosophy:

Our goals are to enjoy our time working together as a family, to raise animals in harmony with their created design and to have a personal working relationship with our customers.

We are first and foremost a family.  Our desire is that our farm augments our life together as a family.  To achieve this goal, our children are intimately involved with the day-to-day operation of our farm as well as problem solving and planning. Each child has also developed their own product lines for sale at the farmers’ markets.

“Raising our animals in harmony with their created design,” means to recognize that each species of animal is created to function optimally in a specific environment.  For example, ruminants are created to thrive on forages such as grass.  Many health issues for animals are avoided by raising animals in low density and outdoors.  By using this method, we do not need to use antibiotics on a routine basis.  However, if a situation occurs that warrants the use of antibiotics, such as an animal with pneumonia, antibiotics maybe prudently used.

To have a personal working relationship with our customers, we gladly offer cooking suggestions, provide farm tours and discuss our farming methods.  To communicate with our customers, we use email, our website, and our participation at the Corvallis and Albany farmers’ markets.  Our customers are a deep resource of encouragement for us.

We want you to be confident in the philosophy and methods we use to raise your food.
